• Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
• Should carry or eligible to get DEA license to prescribe controlled medications.
• Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
• Assists with other health care team members in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
• Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
• Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
• Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Qualifications: Should be a
• Graduate of an accredited school of nurse practitioner program or Physician Assistant school
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or a PA program
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure or a PA license
• Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Eligible for hospital privileges
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the Clinical practice in a primary care set up preferred, but the practice is open to new graduates.

HAROLD DENNIS is a motivational speaker and one of the survivors of our nation’s deadliest drinking and driving related crashes – the Carrollton Bus Crash in Carrollton KY, May 14, 1988, which killed 27 people. Harold was 14 years old when the crash occurred.

After a high school and collegiate career in sports, Harold went on to earn his Master’s Degree and is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant. Harold has spoken at events for a variety of major organizations on both subjects pertaining to alcohol and substance abuse, as well as beating the odds and overcoming adversity. Harold’s unique experiences and leadership roles reflect lessons learned in a multitude of areas relevant to achievement in today’s dynamic business environment.

I am excited to announce the Postgraduate PA Fellowship in Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas has opened its application for the 2025 – 2026 cohort year (April – March). As leaders in PA education, we believe that this opportunity will greatly benefit your PA students who have rotated at MD Anderson or are interested in clinical oncology practice.

The Postgraduate PA Fellowship in Oncology at MD Anderson is a yearlong ARC-PA accredited training program that has a longstanding tradition of providing exemplary training to new graduates, early and advanced career PAs. Our fellowship offers unique professional development opportunities in the field of oncology, enabling participants to further expand their knowledge and skills.
