The Office of Global Partnerships and Initiatives aims to bring together the university community, the local community, and our international partners, to tell the Global Nebraska story and facilitate campus internationalization efforts
Our team had an incredible experience at the Clifton Strengths Institute Summer Conference yesterday at University of Nebraska-Lincoln! We delved into leadership sessions, honed our key strengths, and connected with educators from UNL and across Nebraska. Thank you to the for hosting such an informative event. It was truly a day well spent!

๐โจ Meet Juliee Crocker, a Friendly Face at Global Affairs! โจ๐
Juliee has been a wonderful support for all of Global Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before joining this team, she brought her talents to Programs in English as a Second Language. Since November 2022, Juliee has been one of the go-to people at the front desk for ISSO and GEO on the first floor of Louise Pound Hall.
A lifelong Lincoln resident and proud Husker fan, Juliee graduated from UNL with a degree in Ethnic Studies. When she's not helping navigate Global Affairs, you might find her curled up with a book, aiming to reach her ambitious goal of reading 60 books this year!

International Recruitment Specialist at UNL
Nathaly passionately advocates for education worldwide, guiding UNL's recruitment efforts across Latin America and the African Continent. Originally from Ciudad Acuรฑa, Mexico, she embraces a rich blend of Mexican and Texan cultures and holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from Angelo State University. With a love for languages, Nathaly has taught across Mexico and Morocco and has explored nine countries.
Fun Fact: Nathaly finds joy in learning languagesโcurrently Arabic!

๐ Meet Grant Hunter ๐
Assistant Director of International Admissions at the University of Nebraska
Grant collaborates with international and domestic partners to recruit international students to UNL. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management & Business Administration from Hastings College, Nebraska, and a Master of Arts Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Grant has traveled to over 25 countries and has lived abroad in Kosovo as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant.
Fun Facts: Grant considers himself as a moderately successful home chef & baker, has met a US President, and can play multiple musical instruments.

Traci works with UNL faculty and staff, along with local and international partners, to support and communicate Nebraskaโs global strategic efforts in research, teaching, service, and outreach. She's your go-to person for all things related to Nebraskaโs global partnerships and impact abroad! ๐
Before joining UNL, Traci honed her passion and skills for International Education at our sister campus, University of Nebraska at Kearney. Born and raised in Nebraska, she has traveled extensively both personally and professionally, making the world her playground! ๐โ๏ธ
She loves, ๐ฃ indulging in sushi in Japan ๐ exploring the town squares in Mexico ๐ธ capturing the vibrant culture of Morocco ๐๏ธ exploring the stunning landscapes of Indonesia and meeting new people around the world!

๐ Meet Dave Long, our fearless Director Of Global Safety & Security! ๐
Dave is our go-to guy for all things international risk management. Heโs the mastermind behind our university-wide safety policies, ensuring that every adventure our students embark on is backed by top-notch crisis response plans. ๐โ๏ธ
Before joining us at Nebraska, Dave was a globetrotter with a mission! ๐ He kicked off his career in North Africa, where he supported development agencies in Mauritania, Tunisia, and Morocco for three years. Then, he headed to East Africa to work with relief agencies, leading security operations in South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, and the DRC. ๐๐ฆ
Dave didnโt stop thereโhe spent two years in Northern Iraq, aiding relief efforts in Iraq and Syria during the fall of Mosul. ๐ฎ๐ถโจ With a working knowledge of Spanish, Western Arabic, and Sorani Kurdish, Dave is a true global citizen. He holds a B.A. in International Studies from Georgia Southern University and an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. ๐๐
Fun Fact: When heโs not busy keeping us safe, Dave is a lover of international cuisine, especially Moroccan tagine and Ethiopian injera. Heโs a football enthusiast and has a soft spot for the vibrant cultures of the Middle East and North Africa.

๐โจ Meet Maegan Stevens-Liska! โจ๐
Maegan is the Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she oversees the offices of Global Experiences, Global Partnerships and Initiatives, International Student and Scholar Services, and Programs in English as a Second Language.
She's been a powerhouse leader in key programs with the U.S. Department of State, including:
-Administrative Director and Principal Investigator for the Mandela Washington Fellowship
-PI for the Leadership in Higher Education Program with the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture
-PI for the Center for Entrepreneurship's Summer Virtual Exchange Program with Egypt
-PI for UNL's Global Virtual Project for students in the U.S., Middle East, and North Africa, supported by the Stevens Initiative and Bezos Family Foundation
๐ Interesting fact: Before joining UNL, Maegan taught at the Dresden International School and the Dresden Volkshochschule in Germany!
๐ Fun fact: Her favorite hobby is gardening, and she spends countless hours each summer tending to flowers on her patio and growing tomatoes, zucchini, and peppers.

Sierra shared: "Fulbright has helped me achieve my dream to become a plant breeder that makes a difference in people's lives. With my research at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, I was able to contribute to developing varieties of wheat and barley that I believe will improve the quality of life for the world's increasing population." Through breeding barley, researchers are able to develop varieties optimized to grow in different environments, resist diseases, and other traits which lead to more stable crops for communities across the globe.

repost via from This week the College of Architecture had visitors from the Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia. One of the tripโs objectives was to learn about our universityโs experience and best practices in developing teaching and learning activities.
Several topics were explored:
-Institutional Cooperation Contracts for Student Exchange.
-Teaching and Learning Quality Management: gaining insights regarding our study program development and quality assurance, as well as our internal quality system for studies.
-Student Support System: exploring the measures our institution employs to support students during their academic journey, strategies to mitigate student dropout rates, and methods for effectively monitoring their progress.
It was a pleasure to meet and hopefully build long-lasting collaborations with our peers from Tallinn including Prof Hendrik Voll, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Tiit Lukk, Vice-Rector for Research; Betra Leesment, Study Director, Office of Academic Affairs; and Hanna Haavapuu, Chief Academic Development Officer, Advisor to Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
