Angel received a scholarship from us to go back to school. Why did she need to go back to school?

At 12, she was r***d and became pregnant. She paused her learning to have her baby at our Wakisa clinic. At 14 years old, she’s able to still be a mom while continuing school because of your generosity. 💕📚👩‍🍼

It’s a four hour van ride to the village and we are all squished in the back. Dr. Emma’s team is cracking jokes in the front and dying laughing the whole way.

We arrive at the first mom’s house to give her a Mama Kit. I feel strange at first, just showing up out of nowhere. But Dr. Emma’s team took this opportunity to show dignity to this woman, to seek her out, and meet her needs so tangibly.

I’m grateful for the hearts of our partners, that one little van ride we got to take with them that day, and all of the lives that will be changed through the work we get to do together.

“The Hope Venture gave me the opportunity to go overseas and learn more about the world. In my journey they have helped me realize that I can be a part of something bigger.”

How do you leave a tiny living room where a tragic story has been shared—and is being braved through by the girl across from you? How do you fly home and watch Aladdin while eating airplane tiramisu, to pick up your beaming two year old who runs to greet you in the airport, to sleep in your own comfy bed in your insured house with locks and neighborhood watch and air conditioning?

To be honest, it’s pretty hard. But it’s a little less hard knowing incredible people like Fanuel are not leaving. And that I can work to help get him the resources he needs to do that. But it’s still hard.

I’ve been daydreaming about the red Ugandan soil and lush green foliage for weeks now. This Saturday I’ll leave my desk behind and head to Africa with four other women to visit our projects, connect with partners, and meet recipients.

As a storyteller and connector, I cannot WAIT to share with you all the impact that is being made from the dollars generously given by this community. THANK YOU for saying yes to making a difference in the world.

I’m still pinching myself that I get to be part of this wild adventure with all of you. Stay tuned for updates from the field!!

xoxo,
Carli

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing.” - Jean Vanier

Did you Paddle for Hope with us and wonder where that money is going? Meet Jemimah!

This bright girl now helps her family get clean water every day. Before our partner Nasha Ministries stepped in, Jemimah had to travel far for usable water. Thanks to generous donors like you, she and her neighbors now have a filtration pump right in town.

Money raised last Friday will support our Kenya Water and Sanitation Project, helping more kids like Jemimah. Thank you for paddling with us and making a difference! 🙌🌊

Covid-19 impacted us all, whether in Lincoln, Nebraska or Turkana, Kenya. Three years ago, Alice, a woman with an elegant stance and beautiful smile, faced intensified hunger due to the pandemic.

Our partner Erus saw the need and started the Covid Relief Pilot Project, generously funded by donors, to provide food for people like Alice.

Instead of saving the food she received, Alice shared with her neighbors, saying, “We were made to help each other.” This selfless act shows the true spirit of community and generosity.💖

Remember, your donations can spark a chain of hope ✨

Happy Father’s Day🎉

To celebrate, we want to share an inspiring story from one of our favorite dads and recipients of our work.

Meet Wycliffe, a dedicated husband and father of six. Before connecting with our water project, Wycliffe had no access to clean water at home, which meant no water for drinking, cleaning, or a functioning toilet. This led to frequent illnesses and doctor visits. 🚫🚰

Thanks to Nasha ministries and our support, Wycliffe now has a toilet! But this doesn’t stop there. Wycliffe and his family have extended this blessing by sharing their toilet with their neighbors and community, spreading hope.💖

Here’s to all the amazing dads who provide and take care of their families, just like Wycliffe! 🙌❤️

Mathare, Kenya…

The last couple of months have been heartbreaking as devastating floods have impacted this area. Families lost homes and children couldn’t attend school.

These photos, taken before the flooding, showcase the beauty of this place and its people🤍

At The Hope Venture, we want to take action when the unexpected hits. In May, we gave all donations from the Project Donor Club to our partner Fanuel in Mathare for flood relief 🙌

Thanks to PDC’s generously monthly donations, students are back in school and starting to recover. If you want to join PDC or learn more, check the link in our bio ✨

Hey everyone! It’s ya girl Audrey here 😊

As a person who loves development and growth I’m so pumped to return to Turkana, Kenya this summer to lead camp! The Hope Venture and North Pointe Community Church teamed up last year to host a camp for 20 sponsored student. This project matters as the opportunities for children to go to school can be quite difficult.

It’s so amazing to see how our partner Erus invests himself in these students, his community and his church year-round, loving them as Jesus loves them 💖

The coolest part of this project is seeing how students from 10 different villages can connect over something so special!

I can’t wait to see and share how God has moved in the past year and how He will move this summer 🌍✨

We are heading back to Turkana this month and wanted to share about the incredible work we’re helping to fund there before we leave 🌍✨

Turkana is one of the poorest counties is Kenya, with dry, dusty terrain and scarce water. Families struggle to provide food and education in an environment where even keeping animals alive is a challenge. Many make just zero to ten dollars a day.

Erus, a pastor in Kenya and partner of The Hope Venture, is making a difference through student sponsorships and food relief. Thanks to these efforts, families now have the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty through education. 📚🍎

Last summer, The Hope Venture got to help celebrate the incredible work Wakisa Ministries has done for teen moms in Uganda. Vivian, the founder, brought together young women both currently in the program and those who have now been able to start their own families on their own!

Through this celebration women who were once strangers connected with their shared stories and celebrated what the Lord has done in their lives through song and dance. 🎶💃

One woman even shared how Wakisa’s support inspired her to start her own nonprofit, continuing the cycle of empowerment that Vivian began. 💪🤰✨

🌟Creating lasting change starts with local leadership!🌟

We believe it is essential for all of our projects to be locally led. 🌍✨We come along side incredible women and men who have been serving their communities for years, providing the additional resources they need to make and even greater impact! 💪❤️

We are so thankful for all the local leaders we partner with! 🙏🌿

Meet mother Hellen, a loving mom of three and a devoted wife. Her daily mission? Ensuring her family’s happiness and well-being. One way her love overflowed was through her frequent 20-minute trips to get milk, even if it might have been watered down or had chemicals. Hellen was determined to keep her house full of teenagers well-supplied. 🥛💕

In January of 2022 Hellen received a goat from us! This meant no more milk runs, just more family time and farming adventures. On top of that, she is confident in knowing she is providing nutritional milk for her family. Who knew a goat could mean so much? Thank you for your generosity 💖 🐐

It was summer ‘22, on a balcony in noisy Sevanagar, where I met Divya. Our team was celebrating women who had just graduated from their tailoring course, and Divya was currently enrolled in that course. 🪡

I talked with her and learned she was 23. I was 23. She had an older brother who was 25. So did I! We connected and giggled and hugged, and I learned how future-oriented she was. She was learning the skill of tailoring then to set herself up for an income opportunity later in life. She inspired me.

Fast forward to this March, aka just a couple moths ago, when Josh, Cynci, and our dear friend Ezra, went back to India and got to see Divya! She’s currently working in customer service for the automobile industry, but she still makes frocks for her niece. 😌

Why am I telling you this? Because it’s people here in good ole Lincoln, NE, who are making a real difference in the world…a real difference in the life of Divya. She’s a go-getter, and people like you have stepped into her story and helped maximize her capability. You are helping fuel change-makers, innovators, nurturers, and connectors across the world, and eventually, they could impact you. Your generosity at The Hope Venture is not in vain, thank you. 💛
