One of the highest compliments we can give another is to acknowledge their accomplishments publicly. Our Paige Leising did this for her daughter’s kindergarten teacher, Emily Mujica by nominating Ms Mujica for the annual LPS Thank You Teacher event. Paige’s heartfelt and descriptive letter resulted in Ms Mujica being one of five winning LPS educators who were honored at the LPS breakfast ceremony on March 5, 2024.
Congratulations to Ms. Mujica for her excellence in teaching, and to Paige Leising for her generosity of spirit, her consideration of others, and the gift of always looking for the good in each person and situation. We are so fortunate to have Paige on the Communication Works team!
If you would like to hear Paige’s lovely nomination letter, please fast-forward to about 15:15 in the video.

One in ten people has symptoms of dyslexia, a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia is not due to a lack of intelligence or a desire to learn, and it is not simply “reading backward.”
Some of the warning signs associated with dyslexia include having difficulty with:
• Learning to speak
• Learning letters and their sounds
• Organizing written and spoken language
• Difficulty reading quickly enough to comprehend
• Difficulty spelling
• Trouble learning a foreign language
• Memorizing number facts
• Doing math operations
If your child is exhibiting signs of dyslexia, take action! Request a formal evaluation through your child’s school or at a clinic to confirm a diagnosis of dyslexia or another language-based learning difference. The earlier a child receives intervention the sooner they can get on the path to successful learning.
Does your child SNORE? Have an OPEN MOUTH posture? Have difficulty CHEWING and swallowing? Have persistent SPEECH sound errors? OMD clinicians at Communication Works can give you answers and help you with these issues!
Communication Works, LLC Communication Works provides speech, language, reading, fluency, OMD, OT and PT services.
Does your child have sensory challenges? Trouble paying attention? Handwriting difficulties? Fine motor delays? Other issues at school that you just can't seem to pin down?
Occupational therapy might be the answer. Call Communication Works to have your child evaluated and to arrange for services before we get too much further into the school year.
Why wait and see when you can just see?

COMMUNICATION WORKS KUDOS!
Kudos: honor; acclaim; distinction
Communication Works is recognizing clinicians and staff members that go above and beyond what is expected. Anyone can nominate a fellow member of the Com Works team by providing a brief description of why that person should receive KUDOS.
Kristine Stout is the first member of the team to receive KUDOS! Kristine is an occupational therapist that went above and beyond by taking time to provide pro bono occupational therapy support for a child and the family during a haircut appointment, which was traditionally a traumatic experience for everyone involved.
Kristine was nominated by Jennifer Elitzen who stated that her own child was terrified of haircuts when he was little. Jennifer and her family tried everything they could think of to make haircuts less traumatic, but it was still an ordeal each time. Jennifer reported that in a day and age when healthcare can feel impersonal, what Kristine did was so awesome, and such a blessing for the family.
KUDOS to Kristine—and to Jennifer for recognizing excellence when she sees it!
