Junior Achievement of Lincoln

We are excited to honor Dan Remigio and Earl Hatfield, the trailblazers of Junior Achievement (JA) in Lincoln.

In 1970, Dan, then The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's plant manager, was tasked by Goodyear's corporate office to establish a JA program in Lincoln. He enlisted his colleague, Earl Hatfield, to help define the program's structure. By 1971, Lincoln JA had launched with a dedicated board, staff, and a budget, leading to the creation of sixteen JA "Companies" via the JA Company Program, which engaged 350 high school students from local schools in for-profit ventures.

Despite challenges, including a fire that temporarily halted operations, Dan and Earl's leadership and dedication ensured JA's survival and growth. They built a strong community-based board, raised necessary funds, and emphasized programming and community awareness. Their efforts laid a solid foundation for JA's long-term success in Lincoln, earning them Gold Leadership Awards from the national JA board. Today, their legacy continues through JA’s impactful educational programs, which remain deeply rooted in the principles they established.

We're so glad we were able to partner with Lincoln Children's Museum for last year's JA Job Shadow! Our middle school students will be back again this year for a morning filled with insight, collaboration, learning and most of all, FUN!

The JA Job Shadow is a structured morning visit with local high school or middle school students. This program allows students to explore new industries, learn about career opportunities, and experience company cultures.
