Coast Episcopal School
Fostering a lifelong love of learning for students 18 months old through Sixth Grade for 70+ years.
Since 1950, Coast Episcopal School has offered an educational program that is unsurpassed among schools on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Every day, that tradition of excellence continues as an outstanding team of energetic and dedicated teachers instills a lifelong love of learning in students through an innovative, faculty-driven curriculum. The CES academic program is enriched with offerings in th
Join Head of School Jake Winter, Reading Specialist Brittany Brewer and Elementary School Principal Kim McWilliams in Turtle Hall on Tuesday, September 17 at 5:30 pm for an informational meeting about the Structured Literacy Program CES initiated last year. Specifically for parents of our TK - 2nd Grade students, we’ll share with you what we have learned since the program was instituted as well as the future outcomes we plan to achieve. Pizza and childcare will be provided. To register, go to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdc43wVoBCvQqtXANneXys82dHG7zKIqcsIvKblQcUKkHsXlQ/viewform Details about our 3rd-6th Grades Literacy Night will be announced at a later date.
CES CELEBRATES CREATION
Throughout the week, our CES Kids have celebrated Creation: 4th and 6th Grades during Chapel Services, TK planting seeds with Miss Amanda, and 1st Grade putting “pencil to paper” in Art Class.
CES fourth grade students are reaping the benefits of a teacher whose 31 years of experience are outweighed only by her passion for our school.
The 2024 Flag Football Schedule is set! Mark game dates on your calendar now, and GO RAIDERS!
One of the highlights of our first week of CES Chapel services was our students learning to sign “Jesus Loves Me” under the direction of our school’s dear friend, the Reverend Deacon Vicki Miller of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Known as “our” Miss Vicki, the students were quick learners as they mastered the ASL signs for the ageless song written by Anna Bartlett Warner in 1859.
Keeping our students, faculty, staff and visitors safe is always top-of-mind at CES. Our staff and faculty are CPR-certified and, thanks to a donation last year from Mississippi Power, CES has an AED (automated external defibrillator) in the event that someone on campus experiences sudden cardiac arrest.

CES Campers learned all about wind power yesterday, the last day of Camp Gumbo ‘24. Ryland and Clay had fun creating and racing a balloon zip line that illustrated how wind pushes objects.
Huge thanks to the CES teachers who led this year’s programming and to Principal McWilliams for preparing and serving yummy lunches every day.

Day #1, 2nd week of Camp Gumbo. Lincoln re-created the Olympic Rings using colorful pieces of magazine pages. That’s a perfect 10!
The last day of the first week of Camp Gumbo found our campers designing flag pillows, after looking at examples from around the world. Elizabeth’s pillow expressed her thought of ‘Let Your Dreams Fly.’ Miss Suzanne put the pillows together and, once stuffed with poly-fil, each student closed the pillow with hand stitching. Delightful creativity! Can’t wait for Week Two!

15 CES “kids” were honored at commencement ceremonies held at St. Peters-by-the-Sea. Victoria Mossy and Fischer Hartl tied for the Character Cup, and Fischer received the Seidule Award for Academic Excellence. Seven of our students received the Alpha-Omega Cross for attending CES from Preschool through Sixth Grade: Sam Burnett, Bennett Cain, Fischer Hartle, Francis Martinez, Anna Nobile, Asher Sanders and Ava Grace Varner. Jake surprised our most-loved Julie Scialdone with the Head of School Award for her outstanding work as CES Business Manager.
Returning CES alumni and graduating high school seniors maintained our school’s annual tradition of returning to campus to share their favorite stories and plans for the future. This year’s group included Katherine Farve, OLA’s ‘24 Valedictorian (pictured below, front row, 2nd from left).
Jake Winter recently accepted the generous donation of an AED (automated external defibrillator) from Meg Payment of Mississippi Power Company . CES receives CPR training at the beginning of each school year and having the defibrillator will help keep our students, staff and visitors safe, should anyone experience sudden cardiac arrest while on campus.
It’s been a great year to be a Coast Episcopal Kid! Have a great summer, CES family! ☀️
Another memory-filled Camp McDowell trip for our 5th and 6th graders!
While the CES faculty and students are winding down the 2023-2024 school year, Principal McWilliams is working on next year. She acted like it was Christmas morning when Fed Ex delivered the materials to be used for next year’s math curriculum.
