Teacher Appreciation Week is NEXT WEEK May 6-10. Also, it is time to recognize Teacher + Staff Member of the Year (due May 14).

Suggested ideas to make your teacher feel special (optional):

Monday, May 6: Bring your teacher a flower 🌷day (to build a bouquet). Maybe someone has a vase they'd like to donate?

Tuesday, May 7: Wear your teacher's favorite color (ask Room Parent). If you don't know, maybe they have a favorite sports team or band?

Wednesday, May 8: Make your teacher a homemade card 🗒️ and share some kind words about how special they are. Feel free to include a 💲5 gift card to their favorite coffee shop or restaurant if you can and want to!

Thursday, May 9: PTA-sponsored Teacher Luncheon. Feel free to also bring their favorite treat or dessert 🥮.

Friday, May 10: Decorate their door🚪! Bring stickers and use markers to draw your teacher a special message on their classroom door.

Every day: Don't forget to be good and listen! :)

Let's try to make it a very special week for ALL of our teachers!

Teacher + Staff Member of the Year:

Let's recognize the support that makes our school life happen! Give two reasons your teacher and/or staff member deserves to be a Fremont Star this year. Written and video submissions are accepted. Submissions are due to the PTA mailbox or can be emailed to [email protected] by May 14, 2024.

World Down Syndrome Day - Thursday, March 21

This is a global day of celebration and awareness. Its purpose is to educate the world on what Down Syndrome is and how individuals with Down Syndrome need to be valued in their communities. The date for WDSD symbolizes the 21st day of the 3rd month, which was selected to signify the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which is Down syndrome.

We have a 4th-grade student named Zoe who is believed to be the first student with DS to attend Fremont, a school that is 120 years old. This speaks volumes to Fremont's culture and how it's aligned with IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility). Zoe and her mom created a video which is now playing online at www.fremont-pta.org.

Shannon and Zoe took the time to create a beautiful video to help educate us about Down Syndrome and to remind us to JUST ASK! Look for 21 bouquets of 3 stems around Fremont on March 21st. Students can also drop their questions into the buckets!

Join us at Open House at Fremont! Tuesday, 3/19, 5:30-7:30 pm. See your student's classroom! It's a minimum day - 1 pm release.

On March 11, 2024, Fremont Elementary celebrated our first ever IDEA Day. We celebrated the differences in children and how those differences can build a strong community.

IDEA stands for:

💙 Inclusion
💚 Diversity
💛 Equity
💜 Accessibility

We feel that all these concepts are central to building a stronger community. On IDEA Day, activities included:

💙 A school wide rainbow🌈 photo - just wait until you see the picture!

💚Rock painting with positive messages that can be used in pavers to decorate the school grounds

💛Read the book "Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You"
by Justice Sonia Sotomayor

💜Received IDEA Day stickers

IDEA Day spiritwear shirts were also available! You can pick one up at Friday 3/15/24 Fremont Community Market or: https://www.fremont-pta.org/product-page/fremont-idea-day-t-shirt

Ask your scholar how they felt about the day's activities!
