Here is the answer to last week's LBH Architecture Game and the new photo for this week.

"Last week's photo portrayed the wonderful old Classical Revival Muchison Apartments at 725 E. 6th St.

It was designed by Joseph Roberts, a Long Beach architect who graduated from Poly High School and took architecture classes there. It was constructed in 1924."

"Can you guess where this lovely apartment is located? Please send your answers to Long Beach Heritage."

Last week's photo depicted a "Googie" style building constructed in 1963 at 4201 East Willow Street.

It was designed by Paul Clayton and has soaring rooflines characteristic of this type of Mid Century Modern building. It originally housed the Ray Vines Chrysler dealership and fortunately has been adaptively reused as restaurants.

Here is the new photo for this week. It is quite different from last week's building. Can you identify where and what it is?

🎉Congratulations to 😻 Meow, owner and Long Beach legend Kathleen Schaaf for becoming a Long Beach Legacy Business.
If you have not taken a trip to 4th Street Retro Row to purchase clothing, eye wear, purses, jewelry, hats you name it you can find it. Please do!! Support your local shops and share on social media. We loved the beautiful vintage signs displayed in Meow the refrigerator doors to the cat memorabilla throughout the store. 💜
Dorothy Bembridge loved cats and I am sure she would have loved this store. Could not have thought of a better name. Thank you Kathleen for your dedication to our community. Yes the owner does have a couple of furbaby kitties.😺

This week's building looks totally different from the Merrill Building. Can you guess where it is?

THE ANSWER TO LAST WEEK'S ARCHITECTURE GAME. See below. ☺️

The answer is the Merrill Building, 812 Long Beach Boulevard (originally called American Avenue). The building was constructed of brick masonry in 1922, but it sustained damage in the 1933 earthquake and was remodeled that year in an Art Deco style by Schilling & Schilling, noted Long Beach architects. There were apartments for rent above stores that were located on the first floor.

We would LOVE to hear more details from the person who said that their ancestor built the structure.
