I am Nina, and I am the back office Medical Assistant for Dr. Taras. I have been in the Medical field for 6 years. I assist Dr. Taras during all of his office exams and with all in office surgical procedures. I work hard to make sure all of our patients have a positive experience in our office and I enjoy seeing our patients walk out with a smile. After work I love spending time with my loved ones. I am honored and blessed to be part of the 818GYN family.
Chris Reyes-Front Office Manager
I’m Chris, the front office manager for Dr. Taras. I have been in the medical field as office support staff for the last 25 years. I am the voice you hear when you call our office. I have been blessed to work with this amazing staff and Dr. Taras for the past several years. My goal is to make sure our office is the right fit for your needs as well as making sure you are comfortable coming to your GYN office. When I am not with my office family and patients, I am enjoying time with my family. I have been married for 30+ years and we have 3 wonderful adult daughters and 3 happy, smart, beautiful and sassy grand-daughters.
Kelli Stephens-Accounts Manager
I’m Kelli, the behind the scenes person for Dr. Taras. I help navigate the very confusing process of insurance to best utilize your OON (out of network) benefits. I schedule and coordinate surgeries along with obtaining authorizations for specialty procedures and injectable medications.
I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions or problems regarding insurance or billing.
While not with my office family, you can bet I am with at least one or two of my FIVE grandsons! They are my reason to stay healthy and active.
I'm baaaaaack! :)

"Senior officials in the FBI Indianapolis Field Office failed to respond to allegations of s*xual abuse of athletes by former USA Gymnastics physician Lawrence Gerard Nassar with the urgency that the allegations required," the inspectors general's office said in a statement after the report was released Wednesday.
The Indianapolis officials didn't respond for eight months, according to the report. During the lag in the investigation, an attorney for survivors said Nassar molested at least 120 women and girls.

Incidence of invasive breast cancer in women treated with testosterone implants: a prospective 10-year cohort study Background Testosterone implants have been used for over eighty years to treat symptoms of hormone deficiency in pre and postmenopausal women. Hope you have a great day!
Here are some flowers because everyday you bring your smile in our office its like bringing flowers to work! 💐
Let me start by saying while I am HOPEFUL that this works I do NOT have confidence!
When the words "contentious decision" and "conflicting" stick out in a conversation, it does not give me scientific "warmth". Plus I remember a 60 minutes story on Alzheimers a few years ago that started out by showing some footage of a 60 minutes piece they had done 10 years prior with the same doctors. They then returned to those doctors who basically said, "remember what we told you 10 years ago? Yea, it was all wrong!" Just a dumb gynecologist here trying to read between the lines!
Here's what AMA (not my favorite source) wrote today: The Washington Post (6/7, A1, McGinley ) reports on Monday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration “approved the first Alzheimer’s treatment intended to slow cognitive decline, a move hailed by patients and advocates but sharply criticized by others who argued there was not sufficient evidence that the drug works.” Aducanumab “is the first drug cleared for Alzheimer’s that is designed to alter the course of the disease by slowing the deterioration of brain function.” The FDA approved it “based on its ability to reduce clumps of amyloid beta in the brain,” but ordered Biogen “to conduct a post-approval study confirming the medicine actually slows cognitive deterioration.”
The New York Times (6/7, A1, Belluck , Robbins ) reports the approval was “a contentious decision, made despite opposition from the agency’s independent advisory committee and some Alzheimer’s experts who said there was not enough evidence that the drug can help patients.” The medication “is a monthly intravenous infusion.”
USA Today (6/7, Alltucker ) reports, “The FDA’s approval comes despite a contradictory recommendation from experts on the agency’s Peripheral and Central Nervous System Drugs Advisory Committee, which last November cited conflicting results from two main clinical trials.”
FDA approves new Alzheimer's drug, Aduhelm, the first in nearly two decades The FDA's landmark authorization of Biogen's Aduhelm requires the drug company to conduct a post-approval study to monitor its effectiveness.
- an injectable drug made by the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, was approved Friday 6/4/21 by the Food and Drug Administration, for patients struggling with chronic obesity. Semaglutide was approved in 2019 by the FDA to treat Type 2 diabetes, sold under the brand name Ozempic, albeit at a lower dose. At the higher dose of 2.4 mg, the drug acts on centers in the brain to reduce appetite, leading to potentially significant weight loss when combined with increased physical activity, and counseling sessions with nutritionists to maintain a reduced-calorie diet. The once-a-week regimen made it easier to manage, unlike other anti-obesity medications, which need to be taken daily.
-For 68 weeks, participants injected themselves weekly with either semaglutide or a placebo. On average, over half of those who received the drug itself lost nearly 15% of their body weight, and over a third achieved a weight loss of at least 20% of their weight. Current anti-obesity drugs on the market result in a weight loss of about 6% to 12%.
-The company said it expects its price will be similar to that of its current anti-obesity medicine, Saxenda, which retails for $1,349.02 for a 30-day supply.
-A new generation of medications that harness the way the body normally regulates appetite, by using GLP-1 -- a naturally occurring hormone in the body that regulates appetite -- as a medication. "We naturally have signals from hormones in our body that cause us to be hungry, and when we eat, we feel full,"
-Currently, 42.4% of all adults in the U.S. suffer from obesity, defined as having a body mass index at or above 30, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Given current trends, nearly 1 in 2 American adults will be obese by 2030, according to a 2019 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Newly approved drug heralded as 'game changer' in the growing national obesity crisis The CDC says 42.4% of all adults in the United States suffer from obesity.
