"I have done hundreds and hundreds of memorial services since I became a minister, and when you are in the departure lounge and preparing to exit because they're about to call your flight or when someone who is close to you has left, my observation is
that is not the time to figure out what you believe spiritually or what's next. Because I will tell you that when people don't know what they believe, it is a much more chaotic painful time for them. Now, I'm not saying you gotta believe what we believe. It's just you gotta know what you believe, that's the important thing - what you believe. So, if you believe that mom has passed on and she is in heaven with Jesus, Mary and all the saints, and all of her brothers and sisters fantastic - if that works for you. You should have that belief absolutely, if that serves you. It is not mine to try and convince you otherwise. If you believe that someone you love has passed on and that was it they're done they're just absorbed into the cosmic wholeness of the universe, okay if that's working for you, great. You can absolutely absolutely have that. But I tell you from having done these hundreds of memorials over the years, people who know what they believe when someone close into them passes on they go through that experience very differently than the people who don't know that." A good attitude helps you overcome obstacles that's for sure! It helps you stay focused on your goals. It helps you stay motivated when things are tough. I think a positive attitude develops a lot of resilience and the ability to bounce back after seeming setbacks.
