Early mornings and new experiences have made for a long week, but corps members are filled with enthusiasm and making connections with students, from analyzing the writings of W. E. B. Du Bois to discovering the complexities of mathematical proofs—we’re so inspired by students and our corps members!

Crossing continents, sharing stories! 🌍 Last week, our Executive Director had an inspiring meeting with Yanin Prommolmard with Teach For Thailand. Together, they swapped stories, shared interesting insights about supporting teachers in diverse communities, and learned some of the cultural nuances of teaching in the US and Thailand. It’s amazing to connect with and learn from educators worldwide.

Shout out to the remarkable second-year corps member, Mrs. Melgar! Mrs. Melgar is a 4th grade teacher at ICEF Vista Elementary Academy in Inglewood and the proud recipient of the school's Golden Cone which is voted on by all students and awarded to one classroom with the "best" culture. She created an entire economy in her 4th grade class with jobs, currency (Melgar bucks), and a local store--students even pay taxes and rent. Mrs. Melgar is known for her thoughtfulness, diligence, creativity, and ability to build community no matter the setting.

It was a blast spending time together this weekend at our spring convening! Corps members gathered for a day of professional development and community building at our wonderful partner school, Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy 8. The convening featured several partner organizations--STEM to the Future, Rainbow Labs, and Pear Deck Learning-- and included an Alumni Career panel with alums working as teachers, educators, doctors, entrepreneurs, and executives!
