In a study published in Nature , UCLA researchers, led by Prof. Aydogan Ozcan, introduced an innovative design for diffractive deep neural networks (D²NNs). This new architecture achieves unidirectional image magnification and demagnification, significantly reducing the number of diffractive features required.
