Fascinating work by Profs. Mercedeh Khajavikhan and Demetri Christodoulides. They and their students at USC Viterbi School of Engineering's ECE have reported the first observation of an exotic class of guided optical waves called Trojan beams. The findings are published in the new issue of the Nature Portfolio journal Nature Physics.

Wonderful conference at USC earlier this week: Solutions for a Sustainable Future, co-hosted by Viterbi and Sol Price. ECE's Mahta Moghaddam (left) interviewed Sue Biniaz, a top U.S. climate envoy and one of the architects of the Paris Agreement. Biniaz says some nations are "existentially threatened" by climate change, but oil-exporting countries say it's the solutions that threaten them.
