Boyd Street 05/16/2023

Three years ago today on May 16, 2020, a massive explosion and fire on Boyd Street in Downtown Los Angeles led to a Major Emergency with more than 230 Los Angeles Fire Department Firefighters on scene. A MAYDAY call was made when 11 Firefighters were trapped and burned. An additional firefighter was also injured on scene. Thankfully, these Firefighters from FS 9 in Skid Row were all rescued and admitted to the hospital for their injuries, with the last LAFD member being released after 65 days in the intensive burn unit.
