Two years ago, Laila, a widow and single mother of five, fled Afghanistan for the US seeking safety and a new life. Despite her limited English and fourth grade education, she has worked tirelessly to support her family and ensure a better future for her children. JFS Silicon Valley has been by Laila’s side helping her navigate her new community as she rebuilds their lives. Laila needed to enroll her children into elementary and middle school but was overwhelmed by the process and the language barrier.
