What are your thoughts on these recommendations for student phone use?
I’ve been reflecting on Jonathan Haidt’s recommendations for kids phone use, and while I see the value in his points, I’m still mulling over how much I fully agree with them. I’m sharing his guidelines below—let me know your thoughts!
1. No internet-enabled smartphone before 14
Delaying smartphone use helps kids focus on real-life interactions and develop important social skills without the constant distractions of the digital world.
2. No social media until 16
Waiting until 16 for social media gives teens more maturity to handle the pressures of online life, helping them navigate it with a stronger sense of self.
3. Phone-free schools
Creating phone-free zones in schools boosts focus, learning, and face-to-face communication, reducing distractions and promoting deeper engagement.
