Friends of the Malden Public Library
The Friends of the Malden Public Library is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization. Our main fundraiser is the wildly popular annual Book Sale in October.
We raise funds that help pay for Library programs and materials such as best-selling books, craft supplies, museum passes, and more. The Friends' fundraising efforts pay for Library events such as book readings and discussions, concerts and art exhibits, museum passes, supplies for children’s programs, books and graphic novels for young adults, videos, CDs, DVDs, large-print books, and more. The Friends of the Malden Public Library support the NSHA and will have a pop-up book cart at the festival! We will offer books about Hispanic Culture, music, food, etc as well as books in Spanish!

Future entomologists, get ready to bug out at the Arthropod Petting Zoo, hosted by Professor Bugman! Come learn how these amazingly diverse animals have adapted to survive and thrive in a bug-eat-bug world. Coming this Thursday, Aug. 1, 3-4pm in the Maccario Room! (Recommended for ages 4-11 years old, no registration necessary.)
This educational program is generously funded by Preotle, Lane & Associates, Ltd.

Tickets are finally on sale our Wine Tasting Gala fundraiser!
It's finally back! Join us on Friday June 21st at the Malden Public Library for the Friend's Wine Tasting. This year we are in love with a theme and we're asking you to dress for you favorite decade. Whether it is flapper chic or colonial proper, dress up and show up for a good cause.
Tickets are being sold by the Friends of the Malden Public Library to benefit the important programming and community support the library does. Tickets for the wine tasting are $50, but you can spend just $25 more and get an exclusive VIP tour of the art galleries. All tickets include wine and refreshments and a commemorative glass. There will also be a silent raffle where you can win wonderful items donated by the community. VIP begins at 6:30pm and the rest of the festivities start at 7pm.

Join Malden Reads on Wednesday, March 27th from 6:30–7:30 pm for a book discussion with Malden Mayor Gary Christenson as he leads a conversation about this year’s Malden Reads selection Being Heumann by Judith Heumann. The discussion will take place in the Ryder Gallery of the Converse Art Galleries and by Zoom. Light refreshments will be offered.
This book highlights disability awareness; hidden disabilities; the benefit of ADA to non-disabled people; advances in technology for people with disabilities; civil rights, human rights, and how bills like the ADA become law; the power of one person working in collaboration with a team to create change.

Just a reminder that we will be having our March Friends meeting at the Library Tuesday evening, March 12 at 7:00. A Zoom link will be sent tomorrow for those who cannot come physically. The Friends meetings are every second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm.
We will be discussing our calendar of events: upcoming pop-up book carts, our May Book Sale, and our Wine-tasting Gala in June. We desperately need volunteers to help us with these events, so please consider lending a hand!
ALSO, the Friends is searching for a TREASURER. Anyone with basic accounting skills is welcome to apply. The duties include managing the Friends account, collecting and depositing funds earned from Sales, handling memberships/membership fees and preparing and presenting the Treasurer’s Report at our monthly meeting. Please reach out to any of our Board members if interested.
