Summer EBT and SUN Bucks are here at the Maple Valley Farmers' Market!

Summer EBT at your Maple Valley Farmers' Market! 💚 Beginning this summer, our Market will accept SUN Bucks, a summer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for school-aged children. Just like regular EBT, SUN Bucks are eligible for up to $25 in SNAP Market Match each week 💚 meaning families holding an EBT card and one or more SUN Bucks cards can receive up to $25 match per card. 💚 Find more information about stretching your food benefits at the Market at the DSHS website: https://www.dshs.wa.gov/sunbucks

As we set up our market today, we noticed that we are getting to extremely low levels of the following items:

Our friend Mary over at the King County Library System Maple Valley Library dropped off some AMAZING items for our clients today! Included in this bundle are customized bookmarks with recipes that have common ingredients found in our market (how awesome is that?!).

We have the best community partners, and we could not be more grateful for Mary and everyone over at the Maple Valley Library! 📚🥰

We had our friend, King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn, stop by the food bank recently!

During his visit, he presented the Maple Valley Food Bank with a grant totaling $30,000! With this money, we will be able ensure our shelves are stocked and our neighbors are kept out of homelessness.

You are a champion for food insecurity organizations like ours, Councilmember Dunn, and we could not be more grateful!

💙💛Congratulations to Tahoma Elementary School for winning the Golden Can Award for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW!💙💛

For those that don't know, the Golden Can Award goes to the school that collects the most food (by weight) during the week long food drive that we partner with Tahoma School District on. This year, Tahoma Elementary School collected almost 1000 more pounds of food than any other school is the District!! Way to go, Cubs!

We are so grateful for every student and family that brought in food for the annual Tahoma School District Food Drive. With everyone's help, we are making sure that those in our community do not go hungry. Together we are fighting hunger and feeding hope!

Fill an entire van full of personal care items for Vine Maple Place: CHECK✅

Almost a week ago on Saturday, Generational Hope Church hosted our Maple Valley Food Bank and Vine Maple Place Food and Hygiene Drive at the Maple Valley Fred Meyer! Because of the generosity of so many of you, we were able to collect over 1,200lbs of food, $1,000 in donations, AND an ENTIRE van full of hygiene items!

We say it all the time and we mean it: WE LOVE OUR COMMUNITY!❤️‍🔥

Since our book stop opened, we have given out over 20,000 books to children in our area! We pride ourselves on having a book for every family that walks in with a child. But as we were looking through our stock of donated books last week, we noticed that we are almost completely out of board books for the youngest of our clients.

SERVICE AGENCY SPOTLIGHT | The Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services serves 300 families each week with a robust grocery style market. In 2023, they distributed nearly 1,000,000 pounds of food, living out their moto of fighting hunger and feeding hope in the greater Maple Valley area.
