It’s that time….. time to join the pto! This DOES NOT mean you have to volunteer time if you do not want to, this means you make a donation to help our team do ALL THE THINGS throughout the school year that makes Weddington awesome 💚

There are 2 ways to contribute:
1) join the PTSO for a small fee of $25
2) add onto that contribution with an additional donation to INVEST IN EXCELLENCE which allows us to fulfill all of our programs for the year.

WHS college fair today! One of the ways PTSO represents our school is by collaborating with our School Counselors. They put in a lot of work to get great colleges represented today on our campus! You contributed by providing coffee and continental breakfast to our guests!

Please help our PTSO by joining for $25 today! The Invest in Excellence program offers many of the fabulous things our school has benefited from over the years including senior scholarships, teacher grants for necessary classroom items, staff appreciation events and angel tree just to name a few. We are very short of our goal for this year. We’ve had 278 families and 71 faculty members sign up so far. In order to continue all the amazing programs we provide the school and community, we need your assistance! PTO signup DOES NOT mean you have to join a committee or chair any events! Senior breakfast last Friday was a huge hit! Thanks for supporting our class of 2024 💙💚

We started the first day of the second semester with a special treat for staff. They were so excited for their CFA and McDonald’s biscuits!! Thank you to our volunteers who donated to help make this happen!

The PTSO will be selling Weddington Warrior scarves at all the lunches on Friday, so please stop by to grab yours! You can show your Warrior pride while keeping warm!
Parents and family are welcome to stop by the school during these times and we will happily sell them one as well!

ITS ANGEL TREE TIME! 😇

How it works: A student or family member can come in the front office grab an angel from the angel tree. You get to choose from Walmart, Target, groceries, gas, Visa/MasterCard. They are all set at $25 donations. You take the angel with the item selected, purchase the corresponding gift card and then turn the gift card into the front office saying it’s for the angel tree. You can start picking them up today and we have until Wednesday the 13th to collect the gift cards🎄 This tree supports families in our very own Weddington community during the holidays 💙💚

Don’t forget to drop off your delicious pies on Monday and Tuesday of next week for staff members! We are so grateful for their dedication to our students and can’t wait to share all the goodness with them. 🥧

Congratulations to Danny Bailey, a social studies teacher at Forest Hills High School and Naomi Lotharp, a lead custodian at Weddington High School, for being selected as June 2023 !

"Danny Bailey inspires me by being a strong leader in the classroom and as the head basketball coach at the school. Students love Coach Bailey and it seems he has a nickname for each student as he greets them in the morning and during class changes. He has been the head basketball coach for two years, continuing to grow the program and develop young men into leaders on and off the court. Coach Bailey began his time with Forest Hills nearly a decade ago as a security associate. He began his lateral entry about three years ago and continues to grow as a teacher. His classroom is across from mine and was the first person to talk to me about my goals and teaching style. He has assisted me and another first-year social studies teacher with getting used to the ropes. Coach Bailey is a consistent figure in the kids' lives, which is invaluable. He cares for the students but still holds them accountable. He’s always smiling with staff and laughing with the kids. For all of these reasons and more, he inspires me as a brand-new teacher at UCPS and Forest Hills High School." – Evan Corrado

"Naomi Lotharp exemplifies what it means to be a professional. She is always working hard and with a smile. Many times, she is asked to cover for others when short-staffed. She does this willingly and with high standards. She is the first to offer help and the last to ask for help. It is inspiring to see how dedicated and hard-working she is. A delicious greek themed luncheon graciously donated by Whitney Fero with Champagne Taste Catering. Assorted greek cookies and bakalava from Ilios Crafted Greek were a nice finishing touch. We truly enjoyed celebrating our wonderful WHS teachers and staff during teacher appreciation week.
