Say hello to Kimchi! She is a 3.5 year old Labrador Retriever mix who presented through our ER for vomiting and decreased appetite. She was treated with an anti-nausea injection and subcutaneous fluids to rehydrate her. We checked on her a few days later and she was doing great! ❤🥰

As a referral and specialty animal hospital, we understand the importance of being readily available for our patients. Our ER is currently open Monday through Friday 8am-12am but we plan to expand in the near future! Our goal is to have our emergency service operating and accepting patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Stay tuned for updates! 😀

If your primary veterinarian recommends you bring your pet to see one of our specialty services, it is a very simple two-step process. First, your vet will send Skyline a referral, whether that's to see our Cardiology or Internal Medicine service. Once received, our referral coordinator will reach out to you and schedule your appointment. We will then contact your primary vet for all of your pets' records, so we are prepared for your visit. What's left for you to do? Nothing! We'll see you and your furry friend real soon! 😀

Meet Dr. Katie Grzyb!! 👋 Dr. Katie is our lead emergency clinician here at Skyline. Originally from Rhode Island, Dr. Katie graduated from Ross University in 2009, and continued her clinical training at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. She finished her small animal medicine and emergency internship in Brooklyn, NY, which is where she discovered her love for emergency medicine and surgery. In her free time, she enjoys reading, singing, and spending time with her husband and fur family- Ruby Sassafras, Cecilia, and Fiona.

We are now entering the unbearably hot days of Summer. Dogs are in danger of heat stroke. It is important to limit time spent outdoors in this hot weather and always have a water source and shade available. If your dog starts to show any of these concerning signs, give us a call ASAP! We are here for you and your fur babies Mon-Fri 8am-12am!

Caipharinia visited Skyline for a cardiac evaluation and received an EKG prior to undergoing anesthesia for a procedure. She showed no signs of cardiac disease and got a clean bill of health 🥰!

Meet Andrea Eriksson, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology)! A native of Eugene, Oregon, Dr. Eriksson completed her cardiology residency at North Carolina State University in 2009 and went on to become an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine specialist in cardiology the same year. Over the years, she has had the privilege of working with preeminent leaders in pet cardiovascular disease and is interested in early detection of heart disease in dogs and cats as well as the treatment of end-stage congestive heart failure. In her free time, Dr. Erikkson enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, and playing music!

Moseley, a 9-year-old mixed breed, visited Skyline for a check up with our internal medicine department. He was initially seen for elevated liver values and had surgical biopsies performed in February with our team. The biopsies revealed Copper Storage Disease–an inability to get rid of copper resulting in excessive amounts of copper accumulation in the liver. Moseley is doing great and has been following up with Dr. Eriksson as needed 🥰!

Memorial Day Weekend – the unofficial start to summer – is a great time for barbeques and time spent outside with friends and family. Pets are certainly able to join in on the fun, but make sure to keep these safety tips in mind so they (and you!) don’t end up in the pet emergency room.

☀️ Don’t let your pet snack on food meant for humans. Foods like onions are toxic to pets while poultry bones and corn cobs could hurt their teeth and gastrointestinal tract.
☀️ Avoid bringing your pet to parades as loud noises can spook them.
☀️ Keep pets in a safe, secure spot while using firecrackers and sparklers.
☀️ If you spend time around water, monitor your pet if they are swimming and invest in a lifejacket if necessary.

Say hi to Dr. Eriksson de Rezende 👋! He earned his DVM degree from The Ohio State University in 2006. He then completed a one-year internship at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Hospital in Norwalk, CT, followed by a three-year residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Michigan State University. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Dr. Eriksson de Rezende grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and spent 10 years as an internist in the New York-New Jersey area before relocating to Charlotte to open Skyline Veterinary Specialists. In his free time, he loves to read, practice guitar, and spend time with his wife and daughter.

We know every second counts when your pet doesn’t feel well. Our highly-trained emergency team is available to treat pets who are suffering from a wide variety of illnesses and injuries. Many primary care veterinarians throughout Charlotte refer their patients to us for urgent or emergency care. We also welcome walk-ins. No appointment needed. ER hours are Mon-Fri 8am-midnight.

Roscoe, a 9 year-old Beagle, visited Skyline for a chronic cough and a heart murmur. Board-certified veterinary cardiologist, Dr. Andrea Eriksson, performed an echocardiogram. It revealed that Roscoe suffers from Stage B2 Cardio Degenerative Valve Disease. We will see him again in 6 months to monitor his treatment and re-evaluate his condition. Staying on top of heart disease can slow progress and be helpful in managing symptoms. Thank you for visiting us, Roscoe 🥰!
