It may be December, but we loved spending time with June during her appointment today! ❤️🐾
It’s the first of the month! Murray and Lil Ricky are here to remind you that your pets need year round heartworm and flea and tick prevention (yes, cats too!) in North Carolina. There are many options to choose from for your pet - if you need a refill or have any questions regarding recommendations, give us a call at 704-847-8466.
To our Weddington Animal Hospital family,
We have been receiving a lot of questions seeing a lot of posts about the new canine respiratory disease that has been circulating the United States. The origin of this condition is still unknown, as kennel cough and other respiratory diseases can be a mixed disease process - some viral, some bacterial, some even allergic conditions - just like people with the common cold symptoms. As we undergo the holiday season, we would like to remind you of a few ways to ensure you and your pet stay safe and healthy:
1. Make sure your pets are up to date on their annual vaccinations, particularly rabies, bordetella and distemper/parainfluenza. If your pet is out and about in public frequently, talk to your vet about the influenza vaccine.
2. Minimize contact with unfamiliar dogs and public places. Dog parks, boarding kennels, pet stores, restaurants, etc are high volume areas that have potential to spread disease. Most respiratory diseases are airborne, so maintaining a safe distance from other pets on walks can be helpful.
3. If your pet is coughing, sneezing, lethargic, has a decreased appetite, opaque nasal or eye discharge or GI upset - isolate your pet from other animals and contact your vet as soon as possible.
We take every safety precaution to ensure our hospital is properly sanitized between patients and any sick or coughing dog is isolated appropriately.
For any further questions or to schedule an appointment, please call us at 704-847-8466.
Sincerely,
Dr. Faulkner, Dr. Walker, Dr. Williams and the Weddington Animal Hospital staff
