At Youth Connect, our main goal is to help young people take charge💪🏾 of their mental health by helping them connect to free counseling services. Another important part of our work is supporting local, quality therapists. We can't help the youth without a strong mental health workforce. It's all about having access to mental health care. 🎯

Cathy Emerson and I (Shaneika Smith), are the Co-Executive Directors of the Braid Foundation. The Braid Foundation serves to amplify mental health awareness, access, and advocacy here in the MidSouth. In partnership with the Shelby County Youth & Family Resource Center, we are launching the Youth Connect Program at the end of May. The Youth Connect Program will provide up to 12 free therapy sessions for Shelby County youth aged 13-18 (see prioritized zip codes below).

We are looking for solo-practice and small group practice providers to provide services (tele-health/in-person/individual/group). We advocated for wages that reflect your work and support the sustainability of private/small group practices ($130+ per session).

We are holding the last and final virtual interest meeting for the program on Saturday, April 20th at 9:30 AM. The benefit of attending this interest meeting includes:

🔵 Having the opportunity to ask questions live.

🔵 Getting early access to the program application.

Contract therapist requirements:

🔹Fully licensed LCSW or LPC (LMSWs will be considered for group only) in the state of TN.

🔹 Minimum of one year working with adolescent population.

🔹 Evidence of recent training/certifications for youth/adolescent population.

🔹 Evidence of multi-cultural competence training (identity and culturally affirming). Note the following zip codes with be prioritized for this program: 38106, 38126, 38109, 38114, 38127, 38105, 38107, 38108, 38116, and 38128.

Youth Connect is more than just a program; it's a community-driven initiative designed to provide essential mental health support to the youth of Shelby County. Starting in May, we're creating accessible pathways for youth aged 13-18 to access FREE individual and group counseling services. With a focus on accessibility and youth empowerment, this program will provide vital counseling services to our young community members.
