Breakfast blends are typically a light roast to help us ease into the day. With a velvety body and playful fruit notes that tantalize our taste buds without overpowering them, morning mercy helps us give thanks at the beginning of the day.

When my dad was alive, I used to send him coffee regularly because he was a big coffee drinker. He was born in the pre-war generation and served in the Navy in World War II.

As a result, I thought he would want to drink a really dark roast because of the stereotypes about Coffee in the navy. He would always thank me politely for the coffee when I would ask him about it, but I got the impression he didn’t enjoy them very much.

Then one day it dawned on me: he grew up drinking a light roast low-grade grocery store coffee. So I sent him some morning mercy. No sooner had he received it and had a chance to brew some up than he called me just overjoyed with this blend. He said it was the best coffee he ever tasted and it didn’t even take as much to brew a pot as the cheap stuff he normally bought!!

I will always treasure how happy it made him to drink a cup of this coffee.

Best congrats to Jacob & Rachel! He’s our main roaster and she’s our production supervisor. They joined forces last Saturday in a beautiful wedding ceremony. They met at J. Brooks as coworkers and grew into a deep love for each other.

We are so proud of them - here’s to a beautiful future together! We love you both!
