Whole Child Strategies
Whole Child. Whole Family. Whole Community.
Join us in celebrating Black History Month. We honor the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve greatness, but we also lift up those continuing to make changes. Our future is hopeful as long as we have the courage to push for change.
We are so proud to receive one of the Nonprofit Capacity Building grants from the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis! This grant will allow us to continue building neighborhood capacity and relationships to create change.
We are thrilled to announce $375,530 in Nonprofit Capacity Building grants to 26 outstanding local nonprofits! Thirty percent of funded agencies are led by executive directors/CEOs of color. These grants, awarded from the FOREVER Funds at the Community Foundation, will help the organizations become more efficient and effective in their operationsâhelping them fulfill their missions and serve this community.
Explore this year's grantees, and please note that each needs to match their grant award from the Community Foundation. Check out their LIVEGIVEmidsouth profiles to learn more and to donate.

Their futures depend on it!

WHY we do this work:
60% of the change in test scores are due to out-of-school factors!
If we want this to change, all community stakeholders in Klondike and Smokey City must be vocal and engaged in improving their social, economic, and political lives.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. During the last quarter-century, the MLK Day of Service has grown, and its impact increased as more Americans embraced the idea that citizenship involves taking an active role in improving communities.
We are proud to serve our community not just today, but every day.
Whole Child Strategies works with several community partners to bring resources to citizens in Klondike and Smokey City.

Our workers and Community Champions attended a National Leadership Training in 2023. The focus was to reflect upon what it means to be in the public arena. Effective leadership is imperative if transformation is to take place in an organization, community, or congregation. They were supported by the Gamaliel Network, a faith-based, multi-ethnic, multi-racial organizing network. Together, they learned how to practice self-reflection, introspection, and mutual inquiry as the primary approaches to skill development. We cannot wait to achieve even more this year!
