Thank you, Americares! We are proud of Dr. John Freeman and our many World Cataract Foundation volunteers. The wonderful people of St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica were incredibly grateful for the eye drops and reading glasses made available through Americares. The high cost of readers in Jamaica makes them inaccessible to many who need them. A donation from Americares made it possible for us to fit 800+ patients with reading glasses thus improving their everyday lives. Please consider a donation to Americares - $10 could help 10 people! We also invite you to learn more about World Cataract Foundation at worldcataract.org. Together, let's help the world to see!

Did you know that cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide? In fact, out of the estimated 39 million people who are blind, 20 million suffer from cataract blindness.

The World Cataract Foundation is dedicated to providing humanitarian ophthalmic care and eliminating cataract blindness to those in need, regardless of financial situation. Through the Medical Outreach Program, we provided vital support for Dr. John Freeman's team at the foundation on their mission to Jamaica to restore sight and transform lives. During their weeklong visit to Jamaica, Dr. Freeman and his team of 6 volunteers, including 4 healthcare providers, delivered ophthalmic services to an incredible 816 patients!

The World Cataract Foundation encourages you on this to evaluate your sight health and take actions to protect your vision. The WHO reports that “at least 1 billion people around the world suffer from a vision impairment that could have been prevented or is yet to be addressed.” Prevention and treatment are possible for many, but they lack access to professional care.

The ophthalmologists and volunteers at the World Cataract Foundation work tirelessly to provide free surgery to those in need. Read more about our outreach at www.worldcataract.org and consider supporting our efforts. Your contributions sponsor medical personnel, surgical supplies, and reading glasses for underserved communities in the Caribbean and Central America – as well as in our home city of Memphis, TN.

Your donation on will give the gift of sight to those who would otherwise not receive eye care.

For each blind, disabled person, two other people are required to care for him or her. That means three people are lost from being productive and contributing to society. Not only do we free the adults with the restoration of sight, but we also free their families, especially the children. This is what the World Cataract Foundation is all about. --Jerre Minor Freeman, MD / Founder

Thanks to everyone who helped make our 18th Annual Sight Night a roaring success. We were so honored by our 2022 Freeman Vision Award winners - Dr. Emily Taylor Graves and Dr. Brian Fowler. Their talents and enthusiasm contribute greatly to the advancement of sight. We also salute our outgoing Executive Director and Amistad Award winner - Lori Hudson. She has been the heart and soul of WCF and we appreciate her 23+ years of service. We value our loyal volunteers for their time and efforts - especially our Chair, Pat Beech. The newly remodeled Theatre Memphis is extraordinary and the cast and crew of Guys and Dolls made it an evening to remember. WCF supporters love this event... and we do, too!
