Join us at the library tomorrow, Wednesday July 24th, at 11am for our Adventures with a Firefighter program where we will learn all about firefighting with Mexico Volunteer Fire Department Inc. Lieutenant Tyler Cartier. You will see the process of gearing up and be able to ask any questions you may have while being up close to a firefighter at the ready!

After the firefighting gear demo at the library, we will follow Lt. Cartier over to the fire department to get a tour, see the firetrucks and maybe even have a chance to spray the hose!

With last year's prize going unclaimed, JP Jewelers has decided not to hide a HarborQuest Medallion this year. Instead, they're hiding five. "Five pieces, that is." says owner Jamie Pauldine, who has designed an extra-large medallion this year, which is to be divided into five pieces and hidden throughout the city.

"We're doubling the prizes and quintupling your chances to win," continues Pauldine, who is adding last year's unredeemed funds to this year's prize pool. "There will be a new piece of the medallion, a new set of clues, and new prizes each day. And since HarborQuest is about bringing our families and community together, if all fives pieces of the Medallion are brought together, we're also donating additional prizes to local charity."

"To my knowledge, there will be five different ClueMasters this year as well, adding to the size and scope of the adventure. HarborQuest 2024 promises five times the intrigue, five times the changes to win, and five times the fun."

Friends, they are working on our water connection today. S Jefferson by the back door of the library is currently dug up and closed. Our water has been turned off for a couple of hours while they hook us to the new system (so we have no restroom). The Library is open, however, story hour for today will be a do it yourself version. We have books to check out, crafts to take and coloring sheets. You can come during the day as you like to pick up crafts. (Probably a little later than usual is better to make sure things are back on). And don't forget we have a quartet from The Syracuse Orchestra here tomorrow at 11!

The 2024 Annual Oswego County 4-H Fabric Sale Fundraiser to support the Oswego County 4-H Program will be held Saturday, July 27, 9 am - 2 pm, at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek. If you're looking for spectacular fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July holiday, we've got you covered! 🎆

Mexico Point Park Annual Concert and Fireworks

This year the Annual Concert and Fireworks event at Mexico Point State Park will be Sunday, July 14th beginning at 4:00 pm. The musical line up is as follows: 4:00 pm Mexico Middle School Jazz Band; 5:00 pm, CNY Alphorn Ensemble; 6:00 pm, Classic Touch Barbershop Quartet; 7:00 pm, Mexico Brass Band; 8:00 pm, McConnell, Caruso, and Carpentier. The musical acts will perform in the Pavilion, except for the CNY Alphorn Ensemble, who will perform on the lawn in front of Casey’s Cottage. Food will be available from Food Trucks from Garafolos, Barlows, and Twisted Treats and Treasures from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm. After the music, at approximately 9:30, Fireworks will be provided by Young Explosives. People are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets from which to enjoy the fireworks.
Due to the limited amount of parking available at the park, parking in that area will be restricted to park staff, performers, venders and handicapped people. Two sheriffs will be available to direct all other parking to the field on the left before you get to Mexico Point Park where a free bus shuttle will provide rides to the Park. No parking will be permitted along the road on either side. This event is free and made possible by the support of the Town of Mexico and the Friends of Mexico Point Park.
