VFW POST #369 Mexico
We provide services and support to veterans, their spouses and their communities. We participate in many different community service organizations.
Living U.S. Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive one lapel pin.
As a unique alternative during this challenging period, The Vietnam War Commemoration is encouraging Vietnam Veterans to submit a request for their lapel pin via email at [email protected]. At the earliest opportunity, Veterans will receive a lapel pin in the mail.
Normally, these lapel pins are presented during a dignified, public ceremony to individual Vietnam Veterans. However, given the global pandemic, most commemorative events have been postponed, while others have been rescheduled for next year.
National Vietnam War Veterans Day is March 29. Organizers canceled or postponed many events to slow the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing. Veterans are encouraged to stay connected and participate in virtual events.
Here are some links to virtual events-
VA will also release two short videos on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/VeteransAffairs, Twitter at https://twitter.com/DeptVetAffairs and Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/deptvetaffairs/.

Message from Kenneth Bundy
To all my Facebook friends, especially my Nine Mile family. I have posted information for this years Honor Dinner. So many of you have donated so much the last four years to this program. I would love to have you join us on this special night. Thank everyone that has helped the last few years. I hope you can honor us with your presence, if your schedule does not permit may you have the merriest of Christmas's and the Happiest of New years.
"Lest we forget"
This Friday, hope to see you there.
Many of us look forward to the beauty of winter and all the season has to offer, snowboarding, snowmobiling, skating or just sitting by a cozy fire with a great book watching the snow falling. Unfortunately for our soldiers, homeless veterans and the Syracuse VA hospitalized veterans this season is dreaded. Shelter, warm clothing and meals are in great demand to shield them against the brutality of the winter season.
Every year for the past 15 years I have been the Hospital Chairman and have raised money to purchase the much needed clothing items for our veterans through my Project: Sweats for Vets. I am pleased to announce that this year I raised $2, 500 and have been busy shopping and delivering these items. Thank You to all who gave so generously.
Now I am preparing to make their Christmas a little brighter by trying to fill their wish list. Each year we purchase and fill 125 Christmas Stockings and deliver them to all of the patients in the hospital. We fill the stockings with crossword puzzle books, pens, pocket calendars, clippers, etc. We are dressed in our Elf Apparel and deliver them to the hospital with Eggnog, Cookies and goodies in the middle of December. They love the items but most of all the visits and shenanigans we pull while there.
The Mexicali Quilters make Quilted Lap Robes, Wheelchair Bags and they also make handmade stockings and stuff them BUT these stockings are handed out on Christmas morning so our veterans know they are not forgotten on this special day. The items are absolutely beautiful. Such wonderful, caring ladies.
Much needed items are always personal care products, skull caps worn at night by the elderly to warm their heads, hats, mittens, scarves, Zippered Hoodies, long sleeve T’s, Puffy Vests and sweats. This year the Spinal Cord Injury Unit has asked for Board Games, Puzzles, Cards, Books and mind occupying objects.
If anyone wishes to donate items they must be new per hospital protocol for safety and health reasons.
Anyone who wants to make a donation can make the check payable to VFW Post 369 Auxiliary, Earmarked VA Hospital Christmas Donation and deliver or mail to VFW Post 369 Auxiliary, PO Box 1001, Mexico, NY 13114.
Alone I can move an ant hill for our veterans - united a mountain!!!!!

PTSD is not a combat issue, it’s a human issue. Military service, combat action, neither are a prerequisite to be afflicted with this problem.
