🩷This past Monday, 24 afterschool staff members from became CPR and AED certified! Huge thank you to Nelson and Marc Rodriguez for collaborating with us and for teaching the class! Together, we are making a difference in our community and we couldn’t do it without each and every one of you supporting us. 🩷About 2,000 seemingly healthy people under the age of 25 in the US die each year from sudden cardiac arrest. With the help of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, we are able to give free EKGs in our community. At this year’s race, 15 EKGs were given to children who attended! Thank you Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for your support! 🩵

🩷Not only do we have the best sponsors, but we have the best volunteers! From our local high schools and studios to our own families! It takes a village! We appreciate each of you for coming out year after year and helping us. You always help make our 5K a huge success! 🩵

🩷There were so many things about Bre that made her so special… A few of those being the way her laugh made others laugh, the way she treated everyone around her with love and kindness, and the way she commanded every dance floor she stepped foot on. 9 years later and we are so grateful to say that we are still keeping her story and her legacy alive. The pain and the grief don’t fade, but the reminders and the impact behind it are what keep this foundation going. We miss you always, Bre-Bre! We will continue doing this all for you🩵

🩷 Hi Team Bre-Bre! October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Awareness Month! Did you know a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival decreases by 7 to 10 percent for every minute without defibrillation?

Because of YOUR generosity & support, we were able to donate four more automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at our 8th Annual BVF 5K & Color Run this past year! In total, 38 AEDs have been donated by the Breanna Vergara Foundation🩵

Those 4 AEDs were donated to Royal Oaks Park, City of West Miami, Palm Springs North Elementary & Autism Kicks🦋

For those who may not be familiar with what started our foundation in the first place, let’s talk about why we push for EKG events in our schools & athletic facilities! 🩷

Bre passed away from a rare heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW) where an extra electrical pathway in the heart causes a rapid heartbeat. A simple EKG could have detected WPW and saved her life, so we made it our mission to prevent this from happening to others in our community🩵
