y to give families a new beginning. Design TECHO joined together to make a difference in the lives of those with extremely poor living conditions in Latin America. As a team, we realized we could provide families with the opportunity to build not only a home but a new beginning. The hope for a brighter future in the most excluded communities was and is our motivating force. Each person involved with Design TECHO gave their time, blood, sweat and tears to the project in order to make a change in people’s lives. We take a leading role in the fight against poverty by building the basic foundation for a home and family. It is said that “Home Is Where the Heart Is” and Design TECHO takes that quote and makes it a reality. The biggest realization we had at the end of our first trip was that given the tools, the families we met had the opportunity to overcome poverty and become a self-sufficient family unit to rise above their circumstances. We were most moved by the children and how amazing their spirits are. Our hearts opened even more because we realized we were giving young people the chance to have a fresh start. We want every child to have the chance to follow their dream, become anything they want, without poverty standing in the way. Design TECHO hopes to be an inspiration for others to participate in a new cycle of prosperity in Latin America and in the world, with the hope of eliminating poverty and homelessness.
