ROCKVILLE CENTRE POLICE DEPARTMENT SUMMER SAFETY INITIATIVES

There have been several recent incidents of pedestrians believing they were being followed by person(s) in a vehicle or on foot. Each time, the description of the vehicle and subject(s) reported to the police officers were different. Rockville Centre Police Department Patrol, Anti-Crime, and Traffic Enforcement Unit officers, in marked and unmarked police vehicles, are providing intensified patrols in the residential and commercial areas of the Village throughout the day and night tours, especially in the areas of these previous incidents. When there is an incident such as this, the police department takes several investigatory steps, to include, but not limited to: Identifying the owner of the vehicle, identifying the subject, checking the status of the vehicle to see if it is stolen, speaking with the registered owner of the vehicle to ascertain the identity of the driver, and checking law enforcement databases regarding the owner and driver of the vehicle. Additionally, our department works closely with the Nassau County Police Department Intelligence/Lead Development Center to determine if any similar incidents have occurred in other areas of Nassau County with these same vehicles or individuals.

To combat quality of life and parking violations, one Rockville Centre Police officer has been dedicated to patrol the Central Business District on foot from 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM daily. This officer may be assigned to emergency calls for service as needed due to the high call volume of the department but will return to the area as soon as practical.

The Rockville Centre Police Department has been in contact with the Nassau County Department of Social Services and are actively working with their social workers to enhance our outreach efforts and to be able to provide greater assistance to homeless individuals our officers are assisting within the Village.

For all emergencies call 911 immediately.
To report non-emergency incidents, call 516-766-1500.

THIS FACEBOOK PAGE IS NOT MONITORED, AS OUR OFFICERS AND DETECTIVES ARE ON PATROL AND ANSWERING CALLS FOR SERVICE. CALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.

Water woes drag on in Hempstead Village 06/25/2024

The residents of the Village of Hempstead deserve clean water too! Nassau County has funds from the American Rescue plan to help. They've given money to districts from the majority caucus, it's time to give Hempstead their fair share!

Water woes drag on in Hempstead Village Village residents tell News 12 they just want their water cleaned.

Hempstead residents, officials demand Blakeman act on contaminated water 06/20/2024

Clean and safe drinking water is essential for all residents of Nassau County including those in the Village of Hempstead. They are entitled to receive their fair share of the American Rescue Plan Act funds to help fund renovation of an outdated water treatment facility which is unable to filter out the emerging contaminant, Dioxane 1,4. Numerous requests for funding from both myself and Legislator Bynoe have been unanswered, while requests from other county water related projects in majority caucus districts have been funded or are about to be funded. The health of all county residents should be a paramount priority. ARPA funding from the county can help make a difference. The residents of the village of Hempstead need all the help that they can get and they need it now!
ARPA is federal funding, NOT Nassau County taxpayer dollars!

Hempstead residents, officials demand Blakeman act on contaminated water Nassau County Legislators Siela Bynoe and Scott Davis joined with frustrated residents to demand action after their request for American Rescue Plan Act funding has not yet been answered.
