Tiniest “client” so far! It was so much fun to share my playground with the daughter of my BFF of 40 years. 🥰

Happy birthday, John!! 🎉
♊️ It’s Gemini season, y’all!!
It’s funny how many of my clients are geminis, like me. I thought it would be fun to share some of them in action, on their birthdays… or near their birthdays, because I’m an air sign, after all. 😝
Here’s Debi, whose strength and consistency are evident here in Standing Front Splits, and who celebrated her birthday last week. Gorgeous! 🥰
Sometimes I mix n match my equipment because my house is a playground. 😂 This Becky Original take on Swan I from the reformer frankensteins the tower and the ladder barrel, and is awesome for getting into the hamstrings and core while stabilizing the shoulders and using your own power to decompress the spine. Heck yeah, Emily! 🤩
Check out Emily’s gorgeous teaser breakthrough!
During my own lesson with on Tuesday, we talked a lot about diaphragmatic breathing, and I worked on letting go of obsession with trying to make my belly appear flat— which hasn’t been a possibility for me for some years now, anyway. When I allowed my outer belly to soften, I was able to better access the transverse abdominis, and get my spine to bend in a place it often doesn’t like to bend. It felt like more than a Pilates breakthrough; it felt, in a way, like radical feminist rebellion. Letting my rolls roll gave me power, while trying to hide them has only hampered my mobility.
Since then, every client I’ve seen has gotten a lecture about the diaphragm, and each one so far has benefited from this concept of softening the outer flesh of the belly. This is a good reminder of why we, as teachers, keep up our own practice, with our own teachers. There’s always more to learn, and always a new perspective around the corner.
I like my movement with a side of subversiveness, and in that spirit, I encourage you to get comfy with your rolls and edges, even if they’re not the rolls and edges society has taught you to want. Find the joy in movement, recognize your strength, and appreciate all that your body can do.
NEW TOY!! 🥳🤩
This was my first time hopping on— too excited to change out of my pajamas, but isn’t that the joy of being a “fitness professional”? Who even knows if we’re dressed for work or freshly rolled out of bed? The uniform is half of what I love about this work. 😁
Like many of us, I have a pretty traumatized neck. Special to me, I have unusually short arms, which means I have to flex my spine to get into the traditional yoga sirsasana— not ideal. I can do tripod arms no problem, but I couldn’t believe how freeing it felt to be in a headstand not only without worrying about my neck, but to actually have my cervical vertebrae in gravity-induced traction. Also— wheeee!!! 🎉
Katie Mardis can’t bear to miss her weekly TRX workout, even when we’re both awaiting PCR test results. (We did both have negative antigen tests.) How lovely of Minnesota to give us a 50-degree day at the tail end of November! 😝
Did you know I also co-own a retreat business, Global CitiZen Retreats? We’re going to Mexico in late January, and you could join us for mindful movement overlooking the ocean… there’s seriously nothing like it. 🥰

I completed TRX teacher training a little over eight years ago. Katie was a regular in one of my reformer classes at the time, and was intrigued by my description of TRX work as “sneaky cardio”. I also said that in my mind, it’s basically a Pilates apparatus that Joe would have loved had he lived to see it invented— it’s full body movement with a deep and consistent connection to the core.
Katie bought an introductory package of privates, and felt such an impact on her Pilates practice that she had kept up with weekly sessions ever since. When I was new to teaching with the straps, I felt a little bugged that there wasn’t more spinal extension and rotation. Good thing I like making stuff up! This is an advanced blend of Swan I on the reformer, because she’s pushing down with her arms in front of her, and Big Swan on the ladder barrel, because of the bending of the knees, helping her access her hamstrings... and obviously, balancing on the ball requires her to use the whole body, centering on the core. Look at that gorgeous uniform curve of the spine!
In addition to Pilates, yoga, or TRX private lessons, I’ve got you covered for yoga or TRX duets, as well. 🥰
Not only do I have a fancy new “brand”, but I am now seeing (fully vaccinated) clients in my home again!
I have a reformer, tower, ladder barrel, wundachair, spine corrector, and pedi-pole for private lessons.
Taking deep breaths on a cozy, gloomy day, and enjoying the super late gladiolus from my garden. I shall dub it Becky, because it took its time and refused to be hurried along by convention and expectation. 😉 Like my business to social media, it’s late to the game, but ready to play— albeit, only when it feels like it. 😂
