Thank you to everyone who weathered the storm to participate in the Hmong Community Explore Your Parks event in Brooklyn Center this past weekend.

Hennepin County was excited to be involved in this event through our Active Living program, Hennepin County Libraries, Asian Connections ERG, Engagement Services, Human Services, Hennepin Health, and Public Health.

The goal of the fourth annual event was to support efforts to reduce health disparities among the Hmong community. Highlights included Hmong music, dance performances and art projects; family-friendly story time with author Tory Envy; and free bike safety tune-ups and bike activities.

Hennepin County’s Homeless to Housing program has successfully housed more than 1,100 individuals experiencing homelessness in just over 30 months. The H2H program supports single adults and families by providing personalized case management to help people overcome barriers and secure sustainable housing. With a 96% retention rate, the H2H program is making real strides in the work to end homelessness.

“My housing worker was very persistent and resourceful. Without assistance, I would likely be in a shelter or on the street. Getting into housing happened quickly, and I am grateful,” said one participant of the program.

Congrats to Barrett from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for being our first-ever canine recipient of a Countywide Award, earning a People First Award for demonstrating purposeful work committed to serving residents. 🐶

Barrett, an F1B Golden Doodle trained as a courthouse facility dog, supports victims and witnesses of crime by easing the emotions and overwhelming atmosphere that a courtroom can have.
