Fun to be out riding around Lake Street Friday! We made it to Mercado Central in time to grab empanadas and smoothies. It was beautiful to ride thru Powderhorn Park and see so many folks enjoying their evening. Thinking about where to ride this weekend? Try heading over to the Great Blue Heron Rookery at Marshall Terrace Park in NE and then head to MoJo Monkey Coffee Gallery. We did this for the Birds & Coffee Ride with Sierra Club North Star Chapter and it was really awesome. A few weeks ago there were still lots of birds on their nests and you can be sure the coffee and treats will be good. Message me if you need more route tips, there is a little trail detour but you can make it around.

5 - 6 pm, Pre-ride Q & A. Bike commuting tips & tune up Perennial Cycle. Come with your questions and to learn from League Certified Instructor & Bike Anywhere Founder Mary Blitzer.

6 - 8 pm, Bike ride! We’ll cruise through the neighborhood to Mercado Central, where you can choose from different local vendors. We’ll highlight neighborhood routes, parks, and access to Lake Street businesses along the way. Route is about 6 miles, at a slow, conversational pace.

All riders can enter to win prizes from the Community Coalition!

Wear a helmet, bring a lock (for when we eat at Mercado Central), plus a water bottle.

Great neighborhood ride last week with a fun mix of bicycles 🚲 (e-bikes, regular bikes, be**er bikes, and even Jim of Blackbird Bikes cool, electric 2 seater cargo situation) and people (daily bike commuters, like Trevor of Longfellow Whatever and daily drivers hoping to become more frequent bicyclists 😅)

We also had first time customers to Rebecca's Bakery and Cafe, bought our Summer Savings Passport Booklets, enjoyed drinks from Milkweed and even got to see a Mama or Dada eagle bring his now big eagle baby a fishy meal.

Thanks to Street Mpls, The Longfellow Community Council, Seward Civic and Commerce Association for supporting and hope to catch folks out at our next ride on July 11 to the 1st Thursday Art Drop!

The ride is short, 5 miles (you can do it!), and will include lots of stops to see other local businesses, murals, and even an eagles nest. Did you get your ride in today? These guys didn't let a little rain stop them from practicing their bicycle skills -- like turns and stopping! I shared different options for kid carriers from front seats (cheap and easy to talk with your kids) to trailers (better for all weather and low to the ground for safety) to rear cargo seats (nice balance) with parents as part of a family bicycling program at the Hopkins Library today. If you have a favorite way to bicycle with your kids let me know which and why!
