Missoula Gives starts tomorrow!

Teaching hearts and minds since 1991.

Spirit at Play Early Childhood Program is a Missoula area non-profit preschool for 2.5-6 year old students with an emphasis on the development of social-emotional skills, sustainability, and connection with community. Nature and our beloved town are our extended classrooms, kindness guides our days, we believe in the power of learning through play, and respecting each child’s individual strengths.

Spirit at Play’s mission is to provide the essential tools of childhood to help cultivate a community of healthy minds, bodies, and spirits. Our program focuses on a love of learning through play, creative movement, music, theater, art, science, local exploration and time spent in nature. We connect and care for our community by inviting experts into our classrooms, sharing outdoor adventures, and leaving each place better than we found it. Instilling a love of and appreciation for each other and nature are underlying tenets of our teaching philosophy.

As a non-profit, it is a challenge to balance keeping an affordable tuition rate while also being able to pay our amazing staff well for their hard work and dedication. Every small amount raised aids us in our mission!

‘Tis the week before Christmas at Spirit at Play,
Our kiddos are excited, enjoying busy days.

Flying glitter, paper, paint, crayons, and glue,
Big plans, as gifts are being made for all of you!

Mittens and snow pants are hung by the cubbies with care,
In hopes that big snowflakes will soon fill the air.

Snowmen, snowballs, sledding, and fun,
Our outdoor play is second to none!

Now sleepy children nestled snug in their beds,
While visions of gingerbread dance in their heads.

When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our classrooms to see what’s the matter.

It’s music with Matthew and theater with Dory,
Dancing the gingerbread jamboree and acting out a story!

Bringing donations to Soft Landing, here we go,
Helping out our community, ho, ho, ho!

With one in their helmet, and one in a cone,
All are preparing for lots of family time at home.

More rapid than Busy Bees and Otters they came,
Meadowlarks whistled and called teachers by name:

Now Hope! Now Kira!
Now, Celia and Abby!
On, Paige, On, Susan!
On, Ariel and Aly!
To the top of the slide!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!

We sprang to our cars, to our team gave a whistle,
And away we all drove like the down of a thistle.

We all exclaimed, ‘ere we drove out of sight,
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night!

Welcome to our first full week of school! Our teachers worked so hard cleaning, painting, and preparing for the new school year! After our first three days last week with our new and returning students, we see that our hard work has paid off! We are so excited for the 2021-22 school year! ❤️

“What happens if it doesn’t work out?” asks Dr. Paige.
“It’s trail and error!” “We try again!” say the students.
