No longer prediabetic! Check out this testimonial from a recent graduate of the Diabetes Prevention Program.
"When I started the Diabetes Prevention Program at the YMCA, I had a Hemoglobin A1C of 6.2%. An A1C of over 5.7% and you are at risk for type 2 diabetes. So, being fearful of becoming Type 2 diabetic, I joined the Diabetes Prevention Program at the YMCA. There, I was taught the tools to having better eating habits and what I needed in the way of physical activity. With the help of the staff at the YMCA and the support I received from others in my class, within a year, my Hemoglobin A1C was down to 5.5%."
According to the CDC, "a normal A1C level is below 5.7%, a level of 5.7% to 6.4% indicates prediabetes, and a level of 6.5% or more indicates diabetes. "
Join Coach Nakita as she leads the next session of the Diabetes Prevention Program at the Southwest YMCA on Monday, January 15th. Contact our Association Director of Healthy Living at 262-330-5192 to learn how to enroll in the program.
