A huge thank you to Chuck Roth, owner of Chesterton Feed and Garden Center for donating a basket of garden.goodies for a raffle. The Northwest District of The Garden Club of Indiana had a raffle at their fall meeting and Jan K. was the lucky winner.

The Northwest District of the Garden Club of Indiana had their annual Fall district meeting at The Silo at Sunset Hills Farm in Valparaiso. Wanda Zhart, the 1st Vice-President of the Garden Club of Indiana updated us about what’s happening at the state board level and the five clubs of the district reported on all the wonderful things they’ve been up to lately. District Director Mariellen Smith reported on district news and talked about planning the 2026 state convention which the NW District will be hosting. Jim Pavelka informed the group about the National Garden Club’s gardening schools that are available to all garden club members. The Halloween fascinator contest was great fun with the top two fascinators winning prizes, followed by some fabulous raffle items being won by some lucky garden club members. The meeting concluded with a fascinating presentation on bats by Jen Woronecki-Ellis.
