Oh, my goodness...This is SO cute and hilarious. We cannot WAIT to have this talented family involved in our Johnny Appleseed Walking Play (Musical!), at The Morton Arboretum, later this summer, or whenever we can all get back out!!
Quarantine Blues This is a spoof of Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash. The lyrics were sent to us from our meemaw. Thanks, Meemaw!

We look forward to you sharing your talents with us. Callbacks will be in May, after the gathering restrictions have been lifted. * Subject to change based on CDC recommendations.
Be well and let’s plan for the future together!
Info for Morton Arboretum shows:
The shows are a tradition at the Morton Arboretum and a total blast! Performances take place outdoors, over the course of a mile to mile and half walking route, (with a sheltered option for bad weather days).
We do not provide transportation to the shows in Lisle and find it’s easiest to have a car. However, many of our carless actors carpool, split Lyfts and find creative ways to get out there.
Rehearsals are for 2-3 weeks prior to each production, usually on weekend days and/or weeknight evenings; based on cast availability and working to make conflicts due to other jobs possible, as best we can. We rehearse primarily in the city, close to public transportation, with the exception of 2 or 3 rehearsals on site, at the Arboretum.
THE LOST LAND OF OZ – A FAN FICTION FANTASY
Show Dates/Times:
Saturdays & Sundays, August 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
Show is at 6 PM – Call is at 5 PM and show is approximately 2 hours long.
Show Description:
Did you know there are fourteen original Oz books, by L. Frank Baum, from the early 1900s and over seventy sequels, written by other authors over the years? Elements of Baum’s “Wonderful Wizard of Oz” story inspires a brand-new adventure, with a contemporary twist. Starting in modern day, in a world that has forgotten about magic, a lonely, strong-willed “Kid” finds themselves whirled away into an unlikely expedition. Alongside a peculiar new friend and hilarious, dazzling sidekicks, our young hero finds themselves facing challenges at every turn, and finally discovering the true meaning of home, just like the original Dorothy. Combining cirque, cosplay and classic literature, audiences of all ages will fall in love with this clever, beautiful and surprising new chapter in the Oz legacy.
Breakdown:
The Kid
Age Range: Believably plays early/mid-teens
All ethnicities and gender identities strongly encouraged to audition.
The Kid is the heart of the story. A foster kid, who’s been bounced around the system a bit. They have a bit of a rough exterior, with a wry, dark sense of humor. Deep down though, The Kid is still a kid, easily (ok, maybe reluctantly) swept up in imagination and believing in love and magic again.
North, South, East, West
Age Range: All ages will be considered. We anticipate this being a pretty physical show, if that’s a concern.
All ethnicities and gender identities strongly encouraged to audition.
These four ensemble members play The Kid’s foster family, as well as all the characters in Oz, each representing a different region of the magic land. Strong acrobatic, circus, puppetry skills, or anything else unusual, that can be used in an outdoor setting is a huge plus. Seeking extreme, interesting, magical types for these roles.
Pay:
Actors 18 yrs of age and older receive a $100 rehearsal stipend and $50 per show.
Actors under 18 yrs of age receive a single $100 stipend for rehearsal and all shows.
THE HAUNTING OF SHERWOOD FOREST
Show Dates/Times:
Saturdays & Sundays, October - 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25
Show is at 4 PM – Call is at 3 PM and show is approximately 2 hours long.
Show Description:
As Autumn gives way to long shadows and chillier nights, the forest takes on an eerie mood. Robin Hood and his merry band find themselves being tricked and tormented by a devious, mysterious force that appears out of nowhere and becomes the greatest foe Robin has ever encountered. But what is the secret behind this elusive new character? Why do they taunt the merry men and will Robin Hood finally meet his match and have to give up his beloved Sherwood Forest forever? As the mystery unfolds, there will be epic battles, revelations of love and loss and a final surprise that will change Robin and Sherwood Forest forever. A swash-buckling adventure, this tale will delight all ages, but may be a little scarier and more intense for audience members ten years old and under.
Breakdown:
At this time, we are not doing a full character breakdown. Here’s what we’d like to see: Bad-ass, stage combat savvy, creative, physical, expressive actors, who can tell a story and creative specific, compelling characters. All ages, ethnicities and gender identities strongly encouraged to audition.
Specifically, we are seeking one young woman, who can believably play mid-teens.
Pay:
Actors 18 yrs of age and older receive a single $350 stipend for rehearsals and all shows.
Actors under 18 yrs of age receive a single $100 stipend for rehearsal and all shows.
Info for touring TYA show:
AROUND THE WORLD WITH HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN & CO.
Show Dates/Times:
The shows are Thursday, June 25th – 3 shows at 10:30, 2:00 and 7:00
We will leave Chicago June, 23rd and return Friday, June 26th.
A Walking Play experience, hosted by Jessamine County Public Library in Nicholasville, Kentucky
Like our Arboretum Walking Plays, performances take place outdoors, over the course of a mile to mile and half walking route, (with a sheltered option for bad weather days).
Show Description:
This 60-minute show, bring Hans and his buddies, rounded up through his time-travels, to reach a contemporary audience. They tell several classic tales together, playing all the roles and talking about story origins, ways to update them and how to make them even more fun through audience interaction and improvisation games.
Breakdown:
Page/Roadie
This dude became friends with Hans at a Phish concert in the 90’s. You can take it from there. We pronoun him as “him” usually, but all gender identities encouraged to audition. This character’s vibe is more important than the contents of their pants. Any ethnicity.
It is a small show, so we will find a couple rehearsal days that work for everyone, a couple weeks prior to leaving and also rehearse on Wednesday, June 24th.
Transportation and housing will be provided. A meal will be provided between the first and second show on the 25th.
Pay is a $400 stipend, (includes rehearsals, performance and per diem)
