The ACT helps your students stand on common ground.
Colleges don’t just take ACT scores at face value; they also consider them in the context in which they were achieved. If you have students who are discouraged from applying to top schools because they think test scores will hold them back, reach out to them now.
The universities returning to test required admissions all sound a common alarm: the students who would benefit most from submitting scores are the same as the ones withholding them.
Talented students are missing opportunities of a lifetime.
Don't let them falter so close to the next springboard.
Registration Starts Here
Friday, August 9 is the last day to register for the September 14 ACT without late fees.

Naperville Police Accepting Applications for Fall 2024 Citizen Police Academy
Interactive 10-week course begins Sept. 18, 2024
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Naperville Police Department is now accepting applications for a 10-week Citizen Police Academy (CPA) to be held this fall. The academy will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, and continue every Wednesday night until Nov. 20. Applications are due by Wednesday, Aug. 14, and will be considered in the order they are received.
Naperville’s Citizen Police Academy gives citizens insight into the inner workings of police operations, practices and objectives. Instruction consists of classroom lectures, interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations focusing on various aspects of police work, including patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response, among others.
“CPA is an excellent opportunity for a behind-the-curtains peak at how the police department in Naperville does business,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “The class allows residents to see what the day-to-day looks like for our personnel, and it introduces them to the many different ways we are working to protect and serve our community. If you’ve ever wondered about our policies, tactics, equipment, training or any other topic concerning policing in Naperville, you’ll learn all that and more at CPA.”
All classes are free and will be held at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Course content and activities dictate that class size is limited to 24 participants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and must either reside or work in the City of Naperville. A criminal background check is conducted on each applicant.
Interested candidates should print and complete the Citizen Police Academy application and waiver found at www.naperville.il.us/cpa and return the signed documents no later than Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024 to Jim Pacetti by email at [email protected], at fax number (630) 305-7004, or through the mail or in person at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Avenue, Naperville, IL 60540.
Citizen Police Academy This 10-week series of lectures, discussions and hands-on demonstrations gives participants a working knowledge of the Naperville Police Department.
A Word from Our Interns
Dear District 41 Constituents,
This summer marks the fourth year that Representative Yang Rohr has collaborated with an intern team, with our group this year being the largest yet. Currently, we have a team of 14, with four returning Senior Interns
and ten new Legislative Interns. Our tasks vary from door-to-door outreach, researching potential legislation, and attending events on behalf of the Office. By speaking to all of you at outreach or our Citizen Advisory Panels, we continue to cultivate a greater
understanding of the needs of District 41 and the issues that resonate with our community.
As interns, we are grateful for the opportunity to have hands-on experiences that have expanded our knowledge on the legislative process, research and interpersonal skills, and the structure of local/state government.
Last summer, our team had a hand in researching many of the bills that the Representative passed in the 103rd General Assembly. This summer, our new team is continuing to research ideas you have brought forward to us in preparation for next year’s legislative
session. Every Friday we come together with Representative Yang Rohr and Chief of Staff Donna Wandke to share the work we’ve done throughout the week and hear their feedback on the progress of your bill ideas.
Our team also helps create community events for our office to host every month. These events allow us to honor various important milestones and figures within our community and give constituents another chance to
speak with our team in person.
Beyond engagement and research, our intern team truly is a family. Ranging from rising seniors in high school to rising juniors in college, the breadth of ages, interests, and majors brings an abundance of perspectives
to our projects and conversations. As we participate in weekly team-building activities, fun outings outside of work, and our annual Springfield trip, we have grown closer as not just colleagues but as friends. During our time in Springfield, our team was
better able to understand the flow of legislation and see the behind-the-scenes work that happens after we send our bills off to the Capitol.
We are extremely excited about all of our projects and are grateful to have spent the summer interacting with and learning from constituents in our area. Each year our team learns from the experiences we’ve had
and works to make the next summer even more productive and beneficial to our incoming interns. We hope that our capacity for research and constituent outreach continues to grow and serve our community!
If you know a student who is interested in joining our summer 2025 intern team, please encourage them to contact our office at
info@repyangrohr in January to request an application.
Sincerely,
The Summer 2024 Intern Team

The city of Naperville recently celebrated the first cohort of the Teen Philanthropy Initiative (TPI). A program of the local nonprofit KidsMatter, the initiative provides local high schoolers with learning experiences in fundraising, grantmaking and community service while they earn academic credit at North Central. As part of their capstone project, the students raised $10,000 to award as grants to local nonprofits.
Speaking to the cohort students, parents, program mentors and partners, Abíódún Gòkè-Paríola made remarks at the event: "It has been a tremendous honor for us to enroll the first cohort as North Central College students. On behalf of the entire North Central community, I want to express appreciation … the funds you are awarding today will make a real difference."

Starting in the 2024-25 school year, we will use ACT as the required science assessment for Grade 11. This means juniors no longer have to take a separate science exam, so they will spend less time taking standardized tests.
