**** UPDATE 12/10
Thank you all who helped spread the word! This rescue was a challenge for us, but we made it thru. We have dozens of qualified applicants and meet and greets set up so these pups can find their “pet” homes. Mom has also started her new life 🥳 **************
Unexpectedly, we have a couple of the most recent pups who are not yet spoken for. As always, preference will be given to first responder and veteran families but others seeking a pet are welcome to reach out. These pups will require an adoption fee to cover their veterinary expenses. If interested, please go to our website’s Apply For A Dog page, and when asked whether you are looking to adopt a pet or seeking a support dog, select “I am looking to adopt a pet” and someone will be in touch with you within a couple days. 🥳
Happy Thanksgiving near and far!
Blessed Soldier
The New Hampshire National Guard suffered a tragic loss last week.
Spc. Peter "Petey" Cameron, an ammunition specialist assigned to Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 197th Field Artillery Regiment, died in a single-car accident Nov. 6 in his hometown of Nashua. He was 22.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at Gate City Church, 43 Main Street in Nashua. A receiving line is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow. All are invited to a reception at Bonhoeffer's Cafe located behind the church on 8 Franklin Street.
Peter will be interred at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.
He leaves behind his parents, Carole and John Cameron, a sister Sydney Zemke and brother Joseph Cameron. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graduate of Nashua Christian Academy and Nashua Community College, Peter joined the New Hampshire Army National Guard in April of 2021. He was pursuing his bachelors degree in business at the University of New Hampshire-Manchester. He was also a production assistant at Gate City Church, a barista at Bonhoeffer's Cafe and worked in construction.
"He was an amazing friend to all," his mother shared. "If you were blessed to have known him, then you have been blessed indeed!"
In his brief time with the battery, Peter made a lasting impression on his fellow artillerymen.
During an August pre-assessment for Air Assault School, Peter came to the aid of a fellow soldier. The soldier had suffered a medical emergency during a ruck march at the Center Strafford training site. Peter rendered buddy aid, called 911, and alerted on-site medical personnel. He sacrificed an opportunity for a school slot by not completing the timed event, but his actions may have saved the soldier's life.
"Peter lived the Army values in and out of uniform," said NH Adjutant Gen. David Mikolaities. "We are deeply saddened by his loss. He was a dedicated soldier with a promising future. Please keep Peter's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult period."
Happy Veterans Day! 🇺🇸
Tomorrow I would like to honor a couple of veterans. I have a couple of 1-hour massage appointments I would like to give to a veteran, someone currently serving or a family member of someone currently deployed. My little way of saying thank you for our freedom.
If you or someone you know would like to come tomorrow send a message and let's see if the spots I have open will work.
