Gallery X
Gallery X is a contemporary, nonprofit art gallery of visual, performing, and literary artists.
Gallery X is a place, an art gallery, a performance space, a funhouse, a basement club, a party palace, a church, a meeting house, a cornerstone to New Bedford's creative/art scene, where artists of all disciplines and persuasions can display or perform the fruits of their creative labors.
There’s still one more big step left to the project (the installation of new protective glazing) but here’s a few shots showing where our windows are at and where they started…
1. A warm glow shines through one of the recently re-installed windows.
2. How it all started; the tired, rotting storm windows obstructed the exterior view of the window.
3. Following the removal of the storm windows by the cracks and buckling glass are apparent in the stained glass.
4. The openings were boarded up after the amazing crew at New England Stained Glass removed the stained glass windows. They would spend the next 98 days being carefully cleaned, repaired, and re-leaded, before they were re-installed this past Wednesday.
A huge thank you to the city of Community Preservation Committee for making this project possible!

Tonight at Gallery X from 6:30-8:30 join artist Zulay Holland as they lead a zine workshop, "Zines for Liberation."
This program is free and open to the public, no pre-registration is required.
About the program:
In reverence of the anniversary of George Jackson's assassination we will be looking at zines as a medium to explore liberation works. Through the Palestinian book of Poetry "Enemy of the Sun" as well as George Jackson's history as a political Prisoner fighting and organizing for the freedom of his people, we will be making zines that are centered on sharing inspiration and reflections on the revolutionary struggle and the global fight for liberation and agency for all.
This program is supported by the CCI Racial Equity Learn & Implement Grant of the SouthCoast Community Foundation in partnership with the Island Foundation.
