New Braunfels City Manager Robert Camareno presented the proposed FY 2024-25 budget, featuring a balanced budget and a slight tax rate adjustment. The proposed tax rate is $0.4089 per $100 valuation, with total revenues at $210.4 million and expenditures at $322.6 million. Key investments include employee compensation, technology improvements, capital projects, and public safety enhancements. Public hearings are set for Sept. 5, with final budget adoption on Sept. 9. The Empire Group of Companies is set to capitalize on the surge in rental home growth with their new project, Village at Mayfair. This 217-unit community, part of the expansive 1,900-acre Mayfair development, will feature cottage-style, single-family built-to-rent homes averaging 1,023 sq ft each.

Backed by $47 million in financing from Tower Capital, construction begins this summer with the first homes ready by late summer 2025.
