Who is AIMGA?
HOW WE STARTED
AIMGA began in the year 2000 when the Department of Family Practice at the University of Alberta, in partnership with the Alberta Network of Immigrant Women (ANIW), conducted a survey to build the profile of unlicensed International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in Alberta. Following the survey, ANIW organized focus groups in Calgary and Edmonton. During these focus groups, it was decided that an association for IMGs was needed in order to assist IMGs and to advocate on their behalf. Thus, the Alberta International Medical Graduate Association (AIMG) held it’s first meeting and later incorporated under the Society's Act as a non-profit organization.
