Analysis shows how jets and tanks are being kept fueled despite interim ICJ ruling warning Israel to prevent genocidal acts. Israel relies on crude oil and refined products from overseas to run its large fleet of fighter jets, tanks and other military vehicles. The research, which was commissioned by the non-profit Oil Change International and shared exclusively with the Guardian, examines this fuel supply chain, which since the current conflict in Gaza began appears to have relied heavily on fossil fuels from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Brazil, Gabon and the US. The analysis by Data Desk, a UK-based tech consultancy firm investigating the fossil fuel industry, suggests the major oil companies facilitating the fuel supplies include BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell and TotalEnergies.

On the morning of April 24, the West then Main Gate to Holloman AFB were blocked during the morning commute. Initially 5 peace activists blocked entry for 20 minutes to the West Gate of Holloman AFB using banners/signs stating: U.S. Drone Warfare is Terrorism; Holloman: Stop Training Drone Assassins!!!; No Tax $$ for Genocide. Some of the blocked cars crossed the highway to go back to the main gate. Otero County Sheriff officers arrived. The activists went to the Main Gate. At the Main Gate, 6 activists blocked the roadway just feet away from the entrance into Holloman AFB using signage stating: Drone Pilots Refuse to Fly; Free Palestine; Honor our Vets, End War; No More War. The activists chanted: "We will not be complicit; Stop the drone killing; Stop the Genocide." Within 10 minutes, Otero County Sheriff officers arrived and arrested the six that were blocking the roadway.

CACI tried to have the torture case dismissed more than 20 times, but because of the courage of our clients and the tenacity of our team, the case went to trial on April 15. After 8 days of deliberations following a six-day trial, a Virginia jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, and the judge declared a mistrial.

20 years ago this week, news and photos revealed that U.S. soldiers and CIA agents were routinely torturing prisoners at Abu Ghraib, a U.S. Army detention center outside Baghdad with 3,200 inmates. Abu Ghraib had also been a torture chamber under Saddam Hussein. Now pictures showed Iraqi men, usually naked with suffocating hoods over their heads, being brutalized and humiliated by U.S. Military Police (MPs), who posed in trophy pictures with wide grins, mocking the prisoners.

While the Biden administration has been publicly voicing reservations over the mounting death toll in Gaza, a Washington Post investigation revealed the administration has quietly approved and delivered more than 100 separate weapons sales to Israel over the last five months, amounting to thousands of precision-guided munitions, small-diameter bombs, bunker busters and other lethal aid. Only two approved foreign military sales to Israel have been made public since the launch of Israel’s assault on October 7, which the Biden administration approved using emergency authority to bypass Congress.

Drone whistleblower Daniel Hale was released from prison in February after spending 33 months in some of the harshest confinement conditions ever imposed on a person for disclosing classified information to the press. Hale remains in federal custody but is living in home confinement until July.

In Connecticut on Monday, five anti-nuclear activists connected to the Catholic Worker movement were arrested Monday for blocking the gates at a General Dynamics plant in New London, where the Columbia-class nuclear submarines are being designed and constructed. During the action, a group of 20 protesters held life-sized images of Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb,” with a banner reading, “Don’t be a 'Destroyer of Worlds' — Stop the Columbia Sub.”

Late yesterday, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals granted a motion to expedite the appeal of Palestinians and Palestinian-Americans suing U.S. officials for their failure to prevent – and complicity in – Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The Center for Constitutional Rights and co-counsel at Van Der Hout LLP sought the expedited schedule because of the lethal danger and conditions, including mass starvation, intentionally inflicted upon plaintiffs, their families, and all the residents of Gaza, as Israel continues its genocidal assault on the population and prepares a ground assault on Rafah.
