What Does Dedication Mean?

Sometimes it is difficult to express what it means to show dedication. With Rabbi Dukes this following story illustrates it perfectly.

One morning when Yudi was in the hospital in the intensive care unit, they needed to do a very important, but extremely painful blood test. Two different nurses had tried to stick him with a needle to get the blood and they weren't successful.

I had come to visit that morning and was encouraging him to let a 3rd nurse try to get the blood, explaining how important this test was. I asked him what it would take to convince him to let them try to draw blood again.

"If just one of them, just one, will commit to signing up to JNet, even though the pain is so unbearable, I will let them try again."

Even in the ICU, when Yudi was so sick, the most important thing was JNet, so much so that he was bartering his own blood for Torah and for JNet, to enable more kedusha to be brought down into this world.

Mr. Derek Zisser and Mr. Avi Webb met in the ohel celebrating their 10 YEAR learning "anniversary"!!!. Derek shares: “ We started 11 years ago with the weekly parsha. We have traversed the depths of chabad chassidus (maamarim, tanya, sichos, etc.) and are currently learning Gemara, Masechta Succos. While the learning is great, Avi is also a friend that I cherish as a part of my life for a decade plus.

Mendel Groner and Daniel Raskin from St Paul, MN have been learning together the Rebbes Sichos for a few months. Daniel came to NY and his first stop was to learn with his chavrusa!

MAZAL TOV! 💍🥂. Two JNET members, Elisheva (Elizabeth) Bernshteyn and Ezra Schwarcz, got engaged to each other on Yud Daled Kislev, the Rebbe and Rebbetzins Anniversary ! May they build an everlasting home together! ☺️☺️

My learning partner, Jack Kaufman, and I (pinches kurinsky)have been learning together at 6 am almost every weekday morning for several years. The learning has brought us closer to HaShem and to His mitzvahs. We also look at the world with a greater sense of awe and wonder. It has also resulted in a warm friendship. We study together by phone because we live thousands of miles apart, but have met several times for coffee when we were in close proximity.

With so much going on in the world it can feel overwhelming and scary. Learning helps us focus on the Torah perspective, that Hashem is good and we are in safe hands 🙌
