The 6th grade worked in groups to analyze a chapter from the novel Hatchet. They then put themselves in the point of view of the the main character and created their own plan for survival based on the details in the chapter. Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening!

The 6th grade completed a Christmas STEM challenge. Students had to create the tallest, most realistic looking pine tree using only the supplies given in the allotted time. Honorable mention was given to Robyn and Alllie for the most realistic looking tree. It may not have been the tallest but it was by far the most realistic looking tree. The winners of the STEM challenge were Leah K and Grace! Great job 6th grade!!! Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

OLQP Tree Lighting 2023🎄🎄🎄
What a fun night. It was wonderful to see so many families come out to see the tree lighting. A big thank you to the Family Association for keeping everyone warm on this cold nigh with hot cocoa and cookies. Thank you Mr. Joe for making the magic happen. Five students from the 6th, 7th and 8th grade won their class Spelling Bee. Today those 20 students competed in the school Spelling Bee. We would like to congratulate Erik who came in 1st Place and Gianna who came in 2nd Place. They will now move on to represent our school at the SI Catholic Schools Regional Spelling Bee on December 13th. We are so proud of all of today’s participants. Don’t forget this Saturday is the OLQP Christmas Fair. We have over 100 raffle baskets , vendors, great food and more.

Yesterday was a delicious day in 3K Red. Everyone was very excited to make fresh butter. We prepared the ingredients needed,the tools that were necessary, we shook it up ! At snack time we enjoy our bread with our fresh butter, it was fantastic!

Gobble Gobble Gobble… The Blue Room had a “Gobbling” good time during the Thanksgiving season!! We collected food for the OLQP Thanksgiving Food Drive, sang “Thanksgiving Feast “,” drew our favorite Thanksgiving food, tasted pumpkin and apple pie and charted our favorite, had our very own Thanksgiving Day marching band, and made butter. We also did Thanksgiving yoga, a Thanksgiving Day keepsake plate and placemat. We had surprise visitor ( Grayson’s aunt) come and read us some fantastic books. To top it off we had a Thanksgiving Day feast wearing our turkey hats and tasted our homemade butter on rolls, and ate turkey cookies. Happy Thanksgiving!! PreK Yellow is wrapping up Creative Curriculum’s Ball Study. They had a BALL learning about different kinds of balls, making ramps, making predictions on how high their ball will bounce, and their favorite inflated balls with an air pump. Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

Today the 6th grade went on a class trip to Dj Got Me Fit. As you can see by the pictures, everyone had a lot of fun ! Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

The children in Grades 1 and 2 had an in house trip from Imagination Creations. They learned about the life and traditions of the Sioux, Iroquois and Cherokee Indian tribes. They were excited to make medicine bags. Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

The 7th grade practiced their Science vocabulary words by playing Science Pictionary. Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

Students in second grade worked on a STEAM project in groups to create a landscape modeling landforms and water features. Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

Yoga teacher, Ms Karen Bush and class 3D were joined by our Regional Superintendent Jann Amato during yoga class today at Our Lady Queen of Peace. Yoga is practiced by students in grades K-3. Yoga helps children manage their anxiety, improves self esteem and enhances concentration and memory. Yoga also develops children's strength and flexibility. OLQP Where Great Things Are Happening! 🦃🎈For today’s STEM challenge - students from 3L and 3D designed their very own Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon. After reading “Balloons of Broadway” and learning about Tony Sarg, the first ever balloon designer, 3rd graders worked in groups to create a design that was fun and creative all while remembering how fragile balloons could be and how carefully they needed to work so they did not pop them while designing!!! 🎈🦃 Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

Today to celebrate Workd Kindness Day the second grade wrote what acts of kindness they were going to do today. Our Lady Queen of Peace Where Great Things Are Happening.

To help the children learn about the voting process, today in UPK4 the children in Ms. Molly and Ms. Nancy’s classes had the opportunity to vote on their favorite cookie, Oreos or Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip. After eating each cookie, they went into the voting booth and cast their ballots on their favorite cookie. After the votes were in, they counted the votes to determine who the winner was.
