Ever wondered if massage can improve your posture? 💆♀️ While it won't force your body into a different posture, massage therapy can release tension and trigger changes in your nervous system, paving the way for more balance and freedom of movement. Remember, good posture isn't just about standing upright—it's about enhancing body awareness and promoting natural alignment so that your body can feel its best.
Hibiscus is an amazing cooling summer-time tea that tastes delicious chilled or room temp. It is excellent for reducing blood pressure and cooling the body. That said, be cautious with someone who is already having serious heat-exhaustion because if someone is dehydrated you don't want to reduce blood pressure further and risk increasing lightheadedness or fainting. Fun fact: any sour herbs and fruits tend to have a cooling effect on the body.
“Such a thoughtful, wonderful and kind place. A friend bought me a gift certificate for a prenatal massage, and I am going to be scheduling a birth prep massage ASAP. As the third trimester entered the 30 weeks, I went from having an essentially symptomless pregnancy into intense pain in my hip, thigh and pelvis. My massage therapist Sal was so incredible. They made everything so peaceful and really adjusted everything they did to my body to help that specific pain. The customer service here is unbelievable too. Just love being around such accepting, affirming women when every pregnancy can be so daunting. I can't wait to go back,” Cindy.
Thank you!
At Red Moon, our therapists are dedicated to continuously enhancing their skills through ongoing education. We go above and beyond the required hours, providing funding for our staff's continuing education and organizing regular trainings in various modalities. Our LMT Coordinators also facilitate informal clinical discussions on relevant topics, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration among our team. This commitment ensures that our staff not only stay current with industry trends but also continually grow in their clinical expertise.
Looking to maximize the benefits of massage therapy? Consider this: starting with weekly sessions for the first month can help you build on cumulative benefits and create new pathways in your nervous system more effectively. Then, simply adjust to one or two sessions per month for maintenance.
Save on a series of massages. Our series are applicable to all types of massages, and you can choose any desired add-ons (such as CBD or castor pack) to be paid for individually at the time of your appointment. If you're purchasing a series as a gift, please contact our front desk to have it transferred into the recipient's name, or call us to purchase over the phone. Please note that series cannot be purchased via gift certificates.
Is mobility or flexibility more important to a functional body?
🔑 Tip 1: Prioritize Mobility Over Flexibility
Flexibility is important, but functional mobility is the real game-changer for a stronger, more functional body. While flexibility focuses on range of motion, mobility involves control, strength, and balance in movement, reducing injury risk and enhancing performance.
🏋️♂️ Tip 2: Keep Moving to Maintain Mobility
As we age or lead sedentary lifestyles, functional mobility can decline, leading to increased risk of falls and limitations. Combat this by prioritizing regular physical activity to keep muscles and joints strong and maintain independence. Even just basic frequent breaks from sitting throughout the work day can go a long way.
💆♂️ Tip 3: Harness the Power of Massage
Massage therapy isn't just about relaxation; it's a powerful tool for improving mobility and flexibility. By increasing blood flow, relaxing muscles, and improving joint range of motion via its complex effects on the nervous system, massage can enhance overall mobility and reduce the risk of injuries.
Lena DeGloma's mother, Sharon Posner, is a multi-talented artist who collaborated with her on the design of Red Moon's exquisite space. With over 35 years of experience, Sharon Posner is a seasoned professional in the realms of art and decorative painting. Notably, she personally hand-dyed the Shibori pieces adorning our walls!
Shibori stands as one of Japan’s oldest dyeing techniques, tracing its roots back to the 8th century. It involves manipulating fabric to produce unique patterns and designs. The term "shibori" derives from the Japanese verb "shiboru," meaning to wring, squeeze, or press. Over centuries, this technique has evolved into various styles and methods, each yielding distinct patterns and textures.
Blue is often associated with calmness, tranquility, and serenity due to its connection with the sky and ocean. It has been found to have a calming effect on the mind and body, making it an excellent choice for promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels.
Did you know? According to research carried out by the University of Sussex and paper company G.F Smith, surveying 26,596 people from more than 100 countries, dark blue is the most relaxing color in the world.
With its wide range of psychological effects and associations, it's no wonder that Lena opted for a blue color theme at Red Moon Wellness. Paired with earth tones and natural elements, we hope that Red Moon Wellness exudes relaxation and calm for every visit.
Located in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn, Red Moon Wellness awaits – featuring 6 treatment rooms, each a sanctuary of serenity. Drawing from nature, Lena curated a palette of muted blues, calming natural decor, and soft pink Himalayan rock lighting. Our clients frequently express how a deep sense of peace embraces them upon entering. We invite you to experience it for yourself.
Sessions are by appointment only. Visit our website or call our front desk at (347) 699-8751 to book.
“I always feel so much better after coming here. I came when I was pregnant and now in the postpartum period, and have gotten immense relief every time! Highly recommend Noriko!” - Ashley

Did you know? Stretch marks during pregnancy could indicate a zinc deficiency! While creams and oils might not prevent them, ensuring adequate zinc levels in your diet could help.
Zinc is crucial for tissue integrity and supports your baby's immune system development and cell replication. Check your prenatal vitamins for zinc content, and consider talking to your midwife or OB about adding more if you're experiencing stretch marks or other signs of deficiency.
Incorporate zinc-rich foods like cooked oysters, seafood, nuts, seeds, eggs, beans, and shiitake mushrooms into your diet for optimal health during pregnancy.
We recommend speaking with your doctor or midwife before making any dietary or supplement changes. If you would like to learn more about prenatal nutrition, consider booking a private herbal consultation with me at Red Moon Wellness or check out our Childbirth Education Classes at Brooklyn Flow.

We are thrilled to announce that Lena has welcomed her second daughter! Calliandra Sky was born at home in a birth pool after less than an hour of labor—just in time for the midwives to arrive. Juniper was there to witness her sister’s birth. Callie arrived three weeks before her due date, just two days shy of sharing a birthday with her dad! The family of four is doing well, and we are so in love! ❤️

Massage therapy doesn't directly alter your posture, but it can influence the nervous system to release long-held tension patterns, potentially prompting changes in posture. However, for these changes to endure, increased body awareness and shifts in activity and movement patterns are often necessary on the part of the client.
We believe that the goal for the body isn't to impose a rigid concept of "good posture," which could involve forcing the body into unnatural positions to meet societal standards. Instead, achieving balance within the body may lead to naturally observable adjustments in how one carries themselves and moves in daily life.
Happy PRIDE! 🌈✨

We're excited about The Lanby's .lanby insights on Cholesterol and Eggs!
Eggs are often scrutinized for their cholesterol content, but research suggests that dietary cholesterol has minimal impact on blood cholesterol levels for most people. Factors like anything that increases inflammation and poor quality saturated and trans fats have a greater influence.
Studies have challenged the link between egg consumption and heart disease. Meta-analyses found no association between egg intake and heart disease or stroke risk. In fact, moderate egg consumption may improve blood lipid profiles by increasing HDL cholesterol.
For their in-depth review and/or comprehensive care beyond the diet, explore The Lanby, NYC's primary care members club, where medicine, wellness, and coordination converge. Visit their website for more details.
As I begin to prepare for my maternity leave starting next week, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the exceptional leadership and dedicated staff at Red Moon Wellness. Many of our Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) have been by my side for many years, and we’re just loving our newest team members as well, all contributing to the incredible vibe of our center. It's rare for (almost all of) our whole team of nearly 40 to be together so our annual staff party at Industry City is a real joy. Thanks to Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur Distillery for hosting and Sahadi’s for catering on a beautiful evening earlier this week!
Did you know? Including probiotics in your diet during pregnancy can greatly benefit both you and your baby's health! Research shows that probiotics can reduce the risk of allergies, asthma, eczema, autoimmune diseases, and even certain pregnancy complications like gestational diabetes and preterm labor.
Probiotics nurture the essential balance of microorganisms in your gut, crucial for overall well-being. By incorporating fermented foods like sauerkraut, yogurt, and kimchi, or taking probiotic capsules daily, you can support a healthy gut ecosystem.

Let's talk baby sleep! The baby sleep industry can be overwhelming, but it's important to sift through the noise and rely on evidence-based information. Remember, every baby is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to sleep. Stay flexible, trust your instincts, and explore what works best for your family. Here are 3 key points to consider:
1️⃣ Understanding Sleep Stages: Did you know infants have different sleep stages from adults? Learning to recognize active and quiet sleep can help predict your baby's needs and sleeping patterns.
2️⃣ Sleep "Regressions" Are Normal: Contrary to popular belief, what most people refer to as regressions are not regressions at all. Babies and toddlers naturally progress through phases of sleep patterns (which includes periods of increased wakefulness at night) so it's important to recognize the changes as part of their development and not something to fix but instead find strategies to work through.
3️⃣ Breastfeeding and Sleep: For breastfed babies, sleep and feeding are closely intertwined. "Breastsleeping" is a term coined by Dr. James McKenna, highlighting the physiological benefits of sleeping close to your baby.
