Gay historian brings attention to 1982 Blues Bar raid A Black gay historian is re-examining the 1982 raid of an LGBTQ bar in midtown in a new film called “Gay, Black, and Blue: The Raid on Blues Bar.”
The Society of American Archivists annually recognizes leaders and achievers in the field of archives. SAA offers a variety of professional recognitions and financial assistance through an awards competition, student scholarships, and the naming of Fellows.

Alyssa Moore (APH 2024) accepted an internship with the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Archives. Alyssa will help preserve, arrange, and describe unique historical collections documenting the history of the second-oldest hospital in the United States. She was also awarded the Phi Alpha Theta Thomas S. Morgan Memorial Graduate Student Scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Todd Simmons (APH 2022)! Todd presented his paper "Seeing the Swinish Multitude" at a conference in France. He also presented a second paper for a conference in Lisbon entitled "Consuming Werewolves, Consuming Humans" based on work with Professor Daniel Jütte.

NYU Kimmel Windows Gallery presents "The Black Civil War Soldier," opening October 27th and on view through February 2023 on the corner of Washington Square East and West 4th Street, visible 24/7. The exhibition, curated by Deborah Willis and based on her book of the same name, considers how memory, personal and public, as viewed through the experience of photography, shaped the history of the Black Civil War soldier.
