This is the perfect level of dancers who are serious about their training and have many years of experience in ballet.
This class will move at a much quicker pace, offering complex combinations both at the barre and in the center.

Dancers will be exposed to more advanced and diverse exercises, challenging them to elevate their level of training.

Last night, the Joffrey Concert Group presented an informal studio showing of “Cloaked” for the Creative Movers Choreographic Initiative by CMCI Choregrapher Thang Dao! Over the past few weeks, these talented dancers spent 40 hours in rehearsals to bring these stories to life.

Another exciting week has wrapped up for our NYC Jazz & Contemporary Track Trainees!

Year 4 dancers connected with their bodies through an energizing conditioning session led by faculty Jacoby Pruitt. Meanwhile, our Year 3 dancers took on a fiery Jazz class with faculty Aspen Waddell, pushing their technique and creativity to the next level.

We can’t wait to see the energy continue to build in the coming weeks leading up to our Fall Mainstage Performance!

Get to know the choreographers of Ecdysis, the Fall Midterm production of the Joffrey Ballet School Texas Trainee Program!

- Originally from Kailua, Hawaii, Kaili Bright is a dancer, choreographer, and now educator. She is currently the Associate Artistic Director for the Joffrey Ballet School’s Texas Trainee program. Kaili hopes to bring her unique style combining performance, and a fusion of technique and hip hop to the new generation of talent across the globe.

- A proud Canadian, Sean J. Smith trained with Goh Ballet Academy and Ballet British Columbia’s Mentor Program, both in Vancouver, British Columbia. Sean is currently a Freelance Dancer/Choreographer/Teacher and will be on faculty at Joffrey Dallas and The DASH Academy for the 2024/2025 season.

- Giovanni Allen, originally from New York City, made Texas home In the summer of 2010, where he has been teaching modern, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, and ballet and also choreographing for numerous studios in the Metroplex. His goal is to simply spread his vision and teachings all over the world.

- Noah Tratree is a director and choreographer born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He has over 20 years of training in multiple dance styles including hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, ballet, and more. He has traveled the world with artists such as Justin Bieber, Zendaya, and Becky G and has since then devoted his efforts to teaching and choreographing.

The Youth Ballet Program students are thriving this week in the studios! Under the expert guidance of faculty member Annastasia Mercedes, their Technique class focuses on building a strong foundation for more advanced movements. Her hands-on approach and sharp attention to detail are instrumental in developing proper form. We’re excited to see their continued growth throughout the week!

Are you a beginner, or adult dancer, looking for additional training? Joffrey Ballet School offers a Ballet Classical Variation OPEN CLASS every week!⁠

The variation class is an opportunity to learn classical ballet variations from famous repertoire ballets such as Giselle, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, and many others!

This class is designed for dancers with a clear understanding of the foundational elements of ballet. These concepts will be reviewed and studied while learning the variation, and then performed in the center.

Dancers must take Beginner Intermediate Ballet with Stephanie Godino at 2:30 p.m. in order to participate in the Ballet Classical Variation class. Dancers may take this class en pointe or in flat ballet shoes.

Yesterday, some of our youngest students took part in our “Dance with Me” class, Specially designed for 2 year olds who are not yet comfortable being in a class alone. Each child is joined by a parent or caregiver that will participate as their ‘dancing partner’ throughout the session.

Our Jazz & Contemporary track students from the NYC Trainee Program wrapped up another productive week at the Joffrey Ballet School! From modern with faculty member Karen Gayle to contemporary with Angelica Stiskin and Catie Leasca, our students have been growing every week. It has been a joy to witness their progress over the past four weeks!

Things are revving up in the studio as the Joffrey Concert Group prepares for their first private showing next week with CMCI Choreographer Thang Dao! Looking forward to the official premiere of this brand new piece at our Spring Gala on February 14 and 15 at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater!
