Here's a nice explanation about Tuna and Mercury- Bottom line- if you are going to eat it- ideally choose light or skipjack for the least risk of mercury accumulation in the fish and overall the frequency of how often you eat it matters. This wasn't discussed.. but when you eat it, think about including things that can help you safely get rid of any mercury that may otherwise end up affecting/accumulating in you (via foods or supplements)

With a big snowstorm expected in parts of the US this weekend, I wanted to share an important reminder to be careful when shoveling--especially if you have heart health concerns. One of the major reasons shoveling snow can lead to a heart attack is that people tend to hold their breath on exertion—such as lifting heavy shovelfuls of snow. Breath holding slams the diaphragm right up into the heart, squeezing it and impeding blood flow. This is known as a "Valsalva maneuver." But that's not the only risk. Here's what you need to know & how to protect yourself: https://bit.ly/3KSb51C

The survey, conducted by Harris Poll, also found that millennials saw the highest percentage of such stress, at 48%.

Do you feel comfortable taking supplements that are stored at temps up to 155 degrees? The phrase, “hot on Amazon” is taking on new and problematic meanings for the dietary supplement industry this spring.
Beginning on April 15, Amazon began requiring supplement companies that sell on the platform to guarantee that their products can withstand temperatures up to 155 F, and still meet label claims for stability and potency.

Fruit a cause of type 2 diabetes? No way! (Not fruit juice). According to a new study published in the Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, individuals who eat two servings of fruit a day have a 36% lower likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes than those who consume less than half a serving each day. In this new study, researchers analyzed the data of more than 7,600 participants from the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute's Australian Diabetes, Obesity, and Lifestyle Study. Participants were asked to provide information on their fruit and fruit juice intake through a food frequency questionnaire.
"We found people who consumed around 2 servings of fruit per day had a 36% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes over the next five years than those who consumed less than half a serving of fruit per day," study author Nicola Bondonno, Ph.D., of Edith Cowan University's Institute for Nutrition Research in Perth, Australia, said in a statement.
"We did not see the same patterns for fruit juice. These findings indicate that a healthy diet and lifestyle, which includes the consumption of whole fruits, is a great strategy to lower your diabetes risk."

Reposting from my friend and colleague Dr Adria. Gluten sensitivity and celiac disease can be easily missed on routine lab testing. Specialized labs that both she and I utilize take a more comprehensive look at the multiple potential components of the gluten protein that you could be reacting to. Gluten related disorders can present as many kinds of symptoms and shouldn’t be missed nowadays.
In English, this study proves that the standard lab testing for gluten sensitivity, which ONLY examines the alpha gliadin portion (there are multiple other components of gluten that can cause reactions), is going to miss a lot. We run a very advanced panel that examines all components of gluten and wheat molecules which is most comprehensive and thorough. If you feel this may be a concern for you, call us about having this important testing performed.
