The American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba is dedicated to building cultural bridges between the US and Cuba.
In just two days, the Havana Film Festival in New York and the American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba will come together to honor the person who united us all. I wrote this piece for Carole Rosenberg, President of AFLFC, and the video-story was created through the collective love and effort of everyone in our office. "How do we honor Carole Rosenberg without falling short? Just saying her name stirs up a whirlwind of ideas, stories, and a ton of energy. Carole is a force of nature—when she decides on something (which, trust me, is often), she doesn't just move mountains; she’ll probably rearrange their calendar (or yours) too! Her love for art and her artists goes beyond objects—she builds bridges and makes impossible connections, sometimes even getting parallel lines to meet!
At HFFNY and the AFLFC, we've had the pleasure of learning from her, walking beside her, and—let’s be honest—trying to keep up. Carole’s been my teacher, mentor, and occasional partner-in-crime. She’s also been the heart behind projects like the Havana Film Festival NY and AFLFC artist residencies, keeping them alive and thriving in NYC.
Thank you, Carole, for being the heartbeat of everything, for giving so much, and asking for little more than a smile!"

Yesterday we lost an extraordinary artist, activist, and dear friend: the legendary Harry Belafonte. Drawn together by our shared belief in the harmonizing power of cultural exchange, Harry was a part of AFLFC's journey from the beginning. Below is a memory of Harry at the very first Havana Film Festival in New York in 2000, with AFLFC President Carole Rosenberg and HFFNY Co-Founder Kenneth Halsband.
